Need a few pictures on those walls

My theory (possibly half-baked) about the links between soccer and racism, sexism and violence is that is a game which often lacks narrative resolution ie a bunch of over-paid blokes kick a ball around for 90 minutes, ending up with one or two goals--or, worse still, a scoreless draw or a rather demeaning penalty shoot-out. So, the fans have to do something to fill in the time--drink and create havoc, for example.
I recall major matches in Cardiff, where portable beer stalls were on every corner and mounted police roamed in packs, Post-game, the city resembled a war-zone. There was never the same threat of violence in the air when there was rugby at the Millennium Stadium.
Good rugby is so more satisfying in terms of the stories it constructs--the final moments of the Lions vs Blues last night, for example,
With some blokes I know, following soccer seems like a rather snobby strategy to differentiate themselves from the mainstream sport of NZ rugby, -

Many thanks, Ian. I obviously left off the important bit. I am a bit of twit sometimes!
I am exploring the possibly of further screening around the country, especially in those cinemas which feature in the film. -
I read somewhere recently (a Herald profile, maybe) that he was reading Chasing the Dream.

I can't seem to find a suitable thread so I will post this naked promotion here:
Auckland folk may be interested in catching a film I co-produced, screening as part of Doc Edge Auckland this Friday at Q Theatre (in Shorts 2, 2.30pm June 2). I will probably do a Q&A after the screening, explaining how this natty little film evolved, whilst its creator Nick Homler was a Fulbright Scholar at Waikato in 2015-16. It is a celebration of small, independent cinemas in New Zealand, and the people who run them.

Tickets for Lions games are rather too expensive so we will watch it on Sky--along with the SoHo channel, the reason why we stick with it.
I just hope that there will be as spectacular an encounter as the Maori All Blacks game of the last Lions tour. -
Lovely photos, Russell. I went to the Avondale Market a couple of Sundays back, It is a great experience but I was hoping to find more stalls selling fruit from the Pacific Islands (papaya, mangoes, lichees, big passionfruit, swert bananas) that were in such abundance in Samoa,

OK I tried the red button but it didn't seem to be working.
