I have joined up with Newsroom.pro. It is $29 a month but cancelling our NZ Herald sub would more than compensate.
Good news about Media Take. I will try and get up for it when I can.
Russell: re the Patron thing. I think we are still contributing a regular auto payment to PA but should we shift it to this new option?

To call the commercial radio stations disingenuous would be a a bit of an understatement. Lying bastards would be a better description.

I have come to love my e-bike (Trek Conduit) but it does pose new potential risks, even on a daily trip from Claudelands to the uni. Because of the possibility to ride fast and at a sustained pace (I regularly exceed the 25km limit) and because the bike travels so quietly, there is a greater need to look ahead and prepare to slow or stop, especially on shared routes. A bell helps but not necessarily for those gazing down, engrossed in their mobiles.

This came this morning regarding the attempted merger of Fairfax & NZME;
Good morning
Having read your submission re the proposed merger of NZME/ Wilson and Horton and Fairfax I thought you would be interested in results we are releasing today of a survey of New Zealanders' views on this.
They concur broadly with your conclusions.
Horizon Research conducted this national survey in the public interest. I am surprised the media companies have not done the same, or published anything if they have.
We post the results here:
https://www.horizonpoll.co.nz/page/451/disbelief-disagreement-greet-major-media-merger-plan
We also published comments made by survey respondents.
https://www.horizonpoll.co.nz/page/452/kiwis-advic
The survey is representative of the 18+ population at the most recent census.
If we can help with further information please don't hesitate to ask.
Kindest regards

Speaker: Broadcasting and the Public Interest, in reply to
Thanks, Russell. The Coalition for Better Broadcasting is changing its name, to reflect a wider interest in all aspects of media but it is not happening immediately (I am an elected trustee of CBB). The venture with Action Station is an outcome of shared interests and I am looking forward to it generating good debates and goid outcomes. In the meantime, the conversation here. is pretty damn good.
Like all simple ideas, Morgan's declaration has simplistic appeal. But it is also half-baked and solipsistic. As others have commented above, television is about much more than journalism. -
Hard News: Up with the Pacer: embracing…, in reply to
I contacted Auckland Transport (09 355 3553) and they posted me a bunch of useful maps (four different sectors of Auckland).
Now to get my new Trek Conduit up to Auckland and try some of them pathways.. -
Excellent photos. Like Rob, I was seated up in the dark heights. The music was great but Cave was a distant, flailing figure. Obviously there are good spots at the Vector and not-so-good.

I see that both Lorde and Broods are appearing at Coachella 2017

Good stuff, Russell. Is there a good site where such paths are overlaid on a map. for non-Aucklanders to find them? I did find one site but the details were miniscule.
I have a Significant Birthday coming up and as a present to myself, I have put a deposit on a rather excellent e-bike: 2017 Trek Conduit, which has a range of 120km, built-in lights and something called Shimano Step-through. Expensive but we can keep our rather battered Toyota running for another year or two.The other birthday present is a week on the beach in Samoa (to allow the birthday to pass, in a place where no one knows my name). I had ideas of cycling there but rabid dogs are apparently a problem.
