Hard News: Music: Summer Season, in reply to
The lot in the back seats took some time to warmup and the couple next to me inexplicably left the show half-way through. Don McG was top-notch (love that song "Make Your Own Mind Up") and although EC didn't do anything from my favourite album Should I Be Cruel, it was a bloody good concert--a generous two hours.

Two gems amongst the general dross of National Radio summer programming: the Canadian series The Wire on the history of music and electricity, and the 2012 Powerstation concert by Elbow. In between times, I have been reading through David Byrne's How Music Works. Fascinating stuff on how formats have shaped the forms and future of music.
Spot you at Elvis C, Russell? Great interview with him in yesterday's Time Out, I have done my piece for AudioCulture on the Pretty Things 1965 concert and their return in December 2012, after a 'life-time ban' + their influence on local groups. It was fun to write.

Hard News: The mathematics of marriage, in reply to
You have such a wonderful range of interests, Ben, I yearn for those days of men's speedos. The only option now seems to be long, floppy shorts which cling to legs in all their clammy horror.

Oh, certainly. February 2 at 637 Grey Street, Hamilton East. Noon, or whenever people arrive. I can supply travel details if it is a goer,
We don't have a pool but do have a biggish back yard, bigger trees, .deck and ample seating.

I am not completely sure what I am doing here but I have created a space on FB, to see if people would like a PA get-together on Feb 2. Details at : http://www.facebook.com/events/145583345596244/?context=create
