Thank you, Russell, for the cheerful message. We need moments like this, to counter a feeling that the world is going to hell in a hand-basket. There have been two other such instances this week : reading this morning of a detente between Cuba and the US, brokered by the Pope (as I declared to Josephine this morning, 'It doesn't come easily to me but I am warming to this particular Pope ') ; and being in hall with 900 British media students two days ago, who responded to call from youngGuardian columnist/author Owen Jones,,to stop demonising the poor and challenge the powerful.
