Are we now seeing the dark side of the moon?

Conor Oberst and The Felice Brothers at the Powerstation on Monday night were bloody marvellous. The Felice Brothers (missing Simone F) were listed as the supporting act but they were a whole lot more than that. Opened the evening with a roar, Conor joined in their last song and then they went on to back him through his set. They played for over three hours despite having performed in Melbourne on Sunday and arriving in Auckland on Monday morning.
Conor called them ‘the best band in the world’. A brave claim but a fair assessment.
A father and daughter outing too: Conor for Catherine Rose; the Brothers for me. -

Hope Dolphin gets a mention. Met up with their guitarist and my pal, Kevin Stokes in Twickenham in January. His Kiwi-British band Souther still is in abeyance after three bloody good albums,

My sister-in-law Frances Maplesden owns a house just down the road, available for renting for holidays at a reasonable rate, I think it can be found on the web as Maples Den, Collingwood,

Giving Laneway a miss as I am still befuddled from our travels (London, Wales, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, in 5 weeks).
Enjoy yourself.
But I do have a father and daughter double outing (Conor Oberst and The Felice Brothers) coming up, together with a great opening night for WOMAD 2015 (Richard Thomoson, Youssu N'Dour and Public Service Broadcasting).
