  • Capture: Someone, Somewhere, In Summertime, in reply to Nora Leggs,

Named after rock features nearby--pinnacles with wind-blown holes in them, But Needles is a prickly sort of town--gets up to 49c in summer and if it rains, it is hot rain, The end point of the journey of the Joad family and the starting point of Two-lane Blacktop

If you ever get there, I recommend breakfast at the Wheelhouse Restaurant ("Favourite amongst locals since 1978"). But avoid Porky's (next to the Desert Mirage Motel) as the food is horrible.

I particularly like this one, with this abandoned oasis offering that new-fangled invention of television

  • Capture: Got the blues,

Days of bright blue skies in San Bernandino Valley today and I will post photos when I get a chance. But we had a different sensual experience yesterday when we ventured off the freeway (8 million commuters, who all seem to be on the road at the same time), down country roads through orange groves in bloom. The scent was so heady I wish I could have bottled it.

  • Capture: Got the blues,

Watching the Blues running around Baycorp Stadium and being run over by the Chiefs is pretty good too,

  • Up Front: Oh, Grow Up, in reply to DexterX,

There is also basic Psychology taught in NZ schools (eg Avondale College, Nayland College) with NCEA assessment at all three levels.
