  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide to Parenting,

History is awesome, there's just so much of it,

And getting more all the time.

History ! still growing in the recession !

Do you ever read your old work and have a strange feeling you are reading something written by another person?

Frequently. And that person can't write.

Oh yes. But they seem nice.

My thoughts on reading old work usually revolve around....

OMFG did I say that ?

    Still can't spell/type.

    Dreading the conclusion.

Ultimately reassuring my self that I am not that arrogant prick any more.

    (perhaps a different one now)

  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide to Parenting,

Uni? Worst fifteen grand I ever spent. I was promised that high school was the boring bit you had to pass through to get to the interesting stuff at university. Turns out that was a lie.

Wife says it serves you right for doing physiology ?

  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide to Parenting,

I actually use my qualifications in the course of my vocation. But then I entered HE at 25.

I still question whether society's investment would benefit from making school leavers take a year or two off, but then again I would.

Oh and I was gonna say shouldn't the door to the History department say "here lies madness...to watch them do it again and again and again..."

Gotta admit tho' - Auckland Uni's ploy of whipping up middle class hysteria via the scarcity of educational resources is a coup of marketting.

    Dear Emma -

Do you think renaming my son "Pension Plan" would imbue him with an appropriate sense of purpose whilst studying at University ?

    Yours sincerely

  • Hard News: A voice of reason and authority,

With all due and sincere respect, Russell, perhaps Lomborg has a point when he suggests that there are many many people in the world for whom access to safe water, basic sanitation and health care and three meals a day are more important priorities than climate change, and are at least debatably worth being prioritised by the global community.

Though I'm quite sure that Russell doesn't need anyone to fight for him I'm gonna call this as cheap troll talk. All due respect aside - somone confronted by death due to lack of primary resources is almost certainly able to appreciate actions that promote and conserve them for future generations. Lomborg is not having a debate with the third world and I should regard you and he as poorly described spokepersons on their behalf.

That I should be able to communiacte my science with such clarity of purpose. But what will JK do with a spokesman that allows such little wriggle room.

    After considering carefullt the advice....

As pointed out earlier the devil may yet rest with the detail. The question of what to do is far less clear, take for example the debate over clean energy generation vs. reduction in energy use.
