Of course you could make the point that perhaps our online selves are who really are, and we're just too shy to be complete arseholes face to face.
Or rather that our online selves are one of many social constructs expected or chosen according to a given occacsion. I suspect for many the unrestrained on-line persona is already dyiung or has been educated/ignored to extinction.
Tried editing the preview box - doh !

Whilst I would not offer any particular endorsement of this bunch - for the sake of balance Fathers4Justice.

FWIW - By the end of the year me and Mrs 81st will both be over 40, little bloke will be 2 yrs and Mrs 81st's PhD was handed in last week. Something that bothers us both, is that on my insistence he will be the only one - something that is clearly frowned on in some areas of society. My two personal worries are that little bloke may not enjoy the same robust health/lifespan as we two and that he may yet be be blighted by his father's lack of social skills. The wee chap is seeming less likely to be an Aspie, which despite my own unapologetic stance is good...I think.

On second thoughts - would this be a good time for a godwin ?

how many women of a fertile age (say, 18 to 35) would want to have a baby with some old geezer?
F**k I wish I could think of stuff like that. :)

To be truthful I think Jenkin's treatment of the drugs issue is a bit of liberal dog whistle politics. The war on drugs is dumb, but as usual adequate exploration of real solutions is not forthcomming. The key line here is: Drug users should be regarded as "patients, not criminals". There is to my knowledge, no clear long term economic analysis of the costs associated with this approach. To my mind the two target alternatives to a war on drugs are:
i) Consumption goes down (preferably not via prohibition).
or
ii) A reliable means is found by which addicts can can become citizens, when ready to do so.I would really love to see more advocacy with respect to research into the latter of the above options.
<disclaimer> I am not a fan of existing drugs policy <disclaimer>
