Does this presume that TV occupies the same cultural and community role that it did in the past ? One might speculate that a whole generation might fail to notice this at all. Though of course I do wish them luck.

I'll apply Craig's argument here - Thats a conclusion I can arrive at on my own. I don't need the Prime Minister to tell me how to think, I would rather he used his time in more productive ways.

Every student moved from the public system to the private system saves the government/taxpayer money. Money that can be spent on other things.
And that's the bit which makes me laugh the most. This is in effect a tax on the middle class. Low earners can't afford private, the highest bracket already pays and in order to "keep up" the angst driven middle earners go private as it becomes bettter subsidised.
Someone convince me that any government would use the alleged savings elsewhere in education.

With two Kiwi's doing an excellent job in the TDF and a beautiful winter ride to Muriwai finished today this seems so timely.
I can't help thinking that the congestion charge in London helped.
