I've got that same small cast iron pan, mine was part of a mail order set that was incredibly cheap from LD Nathan years ago. I loved the idea of ordering something like 20kg of kitchenware by mail. The big casserole pot from that set weighs a ton and is still my go-to pot for stews and such, it's got more than 20 years of season on it, and anyone going anywhere near it with soap will probably be physically harmed!
Other favourites are a really nice tagine and a paella pan - only for occasional use but they really do seem to produce the results.
btw Circulon do still make the good stuff, Stevens had some of them for the same price as the regular pans last Christmas and they're virtually indestructible.

I contemplated working (contractor etc) but decided not to. So it was off to the sculpture walk on Waiheke first thing. Good thing too as the harbour was sparkling and it got better and better as the day went on.
The bus from the ferry terminal to the start of the walk was too expensive (would have been $35 for us lot) so we just walked slowly up and back, and the kids played along nicely. The walk was packed with people who all seemed to be having a good time and the sculptures were fun. Ferry back to Devonport mid-afternoon and down to Beach Haven beach where the kids swam out to the stationary boat on the perfectly-timed high tide. There was a security guard at the gate to our nice new wharf - probably because there's no ferries to or from it for the vast majority of the day, which is a shame.
Finished off with takeaways from Food City at Northcote (Love a Duck om nom nom) and plenty of hoppy New Zealand beer. Everyone fell into bed exhausted. Excellent day.

Excellent to see "fuckeulogy" make it into the list, it's a brilliant word. The Bugle also coined "catastratunity" this year after the big storm hit NYC, and I think that's got a lot of potential.

That's definitely one of my favourite DD Smash songs, and it stands up very well today. Come to think of it, I think Cool Bananas might have been the first proper album I ever bought!

I'll just settle for a Stone Roses ticket and be happy with my lot. Very happy indeed.

I saw the original Star Wars in the Carlton Cinema in Hamilton, but Empire Strikes Back in 70mm in royal circle seats at the Odeon in Leicester Square. The latter experience definitely made an impression.

Ugh. Not so much for Comedy Central, it seems.

Wow David, those look fantastic. I've got a ton of my grandfather's old slides to scan but it's slow going indeed. Loads of European landmarks from the 50's and 60's when the tourists could get quite a bit closer than you can today :)

Heh Leigh - the secret is that there's also a card full of photos that just look like a cloudy bunch of islands, various tui's bums and empty branches. Those just happened to be the ones where it all came together.

Yep, they were occupying the tree right by the cafe we were in. Teasing patrons dogs and everything.
