I do love Almighty Johnsons and Fresh Eggs made me properly laugh more than a hell of a lot of other things have recently. I also loved This Is Not My Life from a few years ago, that was a great series that seemed to disappear off to the US and was never heard of again?

It's interesting how the same events keep coming up for people of similar ages, I wonder if that reflects what the media were talking about at the time. For me the earliest story I remember hearing about was Dad coming home and saying "Big Norm" had died. The earliest one I can directly remember coverage of is Elvis dying. I also remember Skylab coming down being a big deal, we would watch out for it at lunchtime at school!

See also stickers (Intel Inside! NXP Inside! Thingawammy XP2900!) on generic Windows laptops
I really liked that on my new Dell all the standards logos on the bottom are hidden behind a small magnetic door, it definitely adds a feeling of polish. I quite like the Intel Inside stickers though, I remove them instantly and apply them to inappropriate objects.

The perils of putting your archives in one place... if the building collapses then it's all gone. It happened in Cologne and they didn't even have an earthquake: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/mar/27/germany-cologne

Graham's right, you spent your $0.67 and of that, 15/115ths or 8.75 cents went on GST, so the total marginal tax is just under 42% instead of 43.

The artist formerly known as Radio Over Moscow (Dan Satherley) has just put out a new album as Anecdata (great name): By Choice Or Design. First single is We're Not In Love With Earth.
Overall the sound is quite similar to Radio Over Moscow (think... Devo meets Regurgitator while Gary Numan serves them tea?) but I think it hangs together better in this incarnation, and several of the songs are really good. Definitely worth a listen.

Hi izogi - From Australia, per $10k transferred, Kiwibank ends up costing several hundred bucks more than the big banks to receive the money. I switched to HiFX (hifx.co.nz) and they've been great. It costs $15 to transfer less than 10k at a time but you'll make that back on the rate difference easily. Right now, for example, 10k AUD becomes 10,599 NZD if sent to Kiwibank and 11,077 NZD if it arrived via HiFX. Like kiwicmc above, it took me way too long to figure this one out :( PM me if you need any more details.

The only negative experience I've had with Kiwibank in the last ten years - both business and personal accounts - is the ridiculously high margins they charge on foreign exchange deposits, much higher than other banks. They were unwilling to negotiate, so now I use a third party FX provider and Kiwibank gets nothing. Other than that though, they've been great. I've travelled with their cards and had no hassle.

I'm hoping the limbics were actually lambics? Sounds like a fun day out though!

Completely agree about the Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings show. I wasn't going and then a friend popped up with front row circle tickets at the last minute... well, why not! It really was a great show and Rawlings is an excellent and unusual guitarist. Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.
