Yes, I missed our Friday music treat too. I guess Russell is staying out of sight, to avoid running into all those horrible people associated with Slater.

I would feel a little sympathetic to National and Key if they showed a bit more gumption (as my old dad would say) and publicly severed all links with Slater, dumped Farrar and got a new pollster and, most importantly, demoted Collins to the back benches. David Cameron recently dumped his Minister of Education Michael Gove, declaring him 'toxic' to the Conservatives and politics generally. Key just needs to do the same with this Toxic Trio.

The morning papers arrive and you might expect the big story of the day to feature large. Instead, it is tucked away on A3 in the Herald and pretty much absent in the Waikato Times. Instead, both feature a near-identical and rather mawkish front-page story about the drowning of a three-year-old in Waihi.

Well, that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience: Bob Dylan singing an encore of All Along the Watchtower and Blowin' in the Wind, in waltz time, as an encore to a great concert 5 minutes down the road from our house.

A heightened expectation in the air this sunny Saturday morning, with Bob Dylan playing just up the road at the Claudelands Arena tonight and tomorrow, I have the windows open and the music paying loud, just in case he wanders by.
