Well, I have just returned home from a talk by Nicky Hager at the University of Waikato. Despite pathetic attempts by the university administration to limit publicity (dept secretaries were prohibited from distributing news about it), it attracted a crowd of 750 people (two linked lecture theatres). He gave a great speech, answered multiple questions, and got a standing ovation,

The thlot pickens! An interesting little item on stuff reports that the purchaser of Hotchin's monument to self-regard on Paratai Drive is the NZ CEO of Orovida, who reputedly has a portrait of John Key hanging in his new abode.

I feel no fear here-- just a genuine concern that one religious creed dominates public life in New Zealand, and intrudes into schooling where it shouldn't.

Of course Religious education, Bible classes ... whatever ... must be opt-in and not opt-out, and should be general policy.
The only memory I have of bible stuff growing up in a small Taranaki town was the rather dismal bible class dances which largely constituted social life in those days. No much opportunity to explore my Jewish heritage either.
