Pohutukawa blooms lie in drifts in the gutters; the confetti of yesterday’s parade.
It struck me the angles on our consecutive shots were uncannily in-sync. So I did a twiddly thing. Not sure it works, but it's Friday, I'm on holiday, and Photoshop was open.

Missed my chance to see that earlier this year. The novel has lasted long in my memory since I read it in 1989. I failed at a second attempt recently though. My brain must be more cluttered, or addled, or both.

It’s certainly been the best year for pohutukawa at Waiheke that I’ve seen in ages.
I concur. Just did a little pohutukawa promenade down Onetangi Beach. Some fine specimens in the twilight.

Lots of large trees in bloom on Waiheke, many still providing beach shade, which is one of their best design features.
