Yikes! You go away for a couple of days and look what happens to the place.

  • The end of the road West,

....and what will bogans use as their style guide now? At least we will see the end of that stupid The Rock promo.

  • The end of the road West,

I am with Russell in defense of Pascale and her malapropisms. The only thing which has been missing from OF is animals. There should have been at least one mongrel (unregistered, of course, and probably a rotweiler cross) and a three-legged cat.

Loretta seemed to lose her love of movies (and movie references) somewhere along the way.

  • The end of the road West,

Aaron Spiller has become the most interesting character--a drongo with real heart. The Gooch--well, there is something too oily and ferrety about him. Eric just plain smells.

The Old Man and Ngaire still deserve something particularly unpleasant.

  • Hard News: Summer's record has come early,

@Steve; saw a preview at The Lido, Hamilton. I believe it is on general release next week.

Talking about good things, do get to see The Social Network. The short history of Facebook but also about friendship, betrayal, class and snobbery, and America.

Has Chris Trotter commented on the betrayal of the working class by Albert Otter?

Well, there is Okororie which has a wonderful old country pub (built in the 1880s), a golf course (if you like that kind of thing)--and a walk down an avenue of trees, to the banks of the raging Waihou River where you will find sandy-floored hot pools, surrounded by a high fence and ferns. You get your key to the gate from the hotel.

No problem, Sally. No offence taken. After all, I have been known to make unkind remarks about Masterton.

I don't get to Cambridge often enough--silly old Tirau is our usual stop, heading south (there are some wonderful, little-known hot spring spots around there).

David: A terrible thing, I know, but I can't help thinking what the post-marriage sex life of Albert the Otter and the princess must have been like ;-)
