Well, two good things here--Spooky Tooth who made one very good record (on a nautical theme) and Leningrad Cowboys. If you have never seen Leningrad Cowboys Go America, you have to ("Go to America. They like all kinds of shit there". Mad Finns!

Wow. The first Death Cab for Cutie citation on PAS. I really like their music (especially Narrow Stairs) but know so little about them. How many of them are there? Why did they choose such a stupid name? Where does Zooey fit in?

It is not so much about squeezing out more tax from those already paying a fair whack but dealing more directly with tax avoidance, especially through devious family trusts. Interesting too, to see the information that came out this week about the low rates of taxation asked of NZ dairy farmers. They probably have family trusts for each cow.
But I doubt that National would have the courage to tackle this

I bought something called a DoubleHappy on a recent visit to Tauranga. It was an over-sized sausage roll, with a topping of mashed potato. Somehow appropriate for Tauranga--sort of reminded me of Winston. Indigestible!

What an interesting story, Steve, But I wonder much discount you could get off the Old World...

There has been considerable activity on the Kiwi Journalists FB group (initiated by Jim Tucker) in support of Jon but the silence from other groups who claim to support journalists is puzzling.
Have a good weekend y'all, whilst this unusually warm weather continues.

@ Ian. You are such a clever bugger ;-) Sort of a Gratitude and Sense-of-Obligation Tax (GST)?

I’d love a Public Address coffee mug!
And a Tshirt…and a seat at the RWC final

...and if I ever win Lotto, all PAS contributors will be set up in a palace of their own...and Craig will get his very own pole.

Russell: about to throw a wad of cash in your worthy direction but I wonder if we could have a regular subscriber option, as I do with Werewolf on a monthly AP basis.
