Brilliant.
And I really want one of those sweaters now.

The picture of Truter charging down that ball is absolutely amazing. So clear, and such awesome timing! I'd like to see his son comment here and give some background. :)

Cool story Hadyn. Well done.

Best post ever.
*blush* I have a feeling that is something of an overstatement. But you're right, today is a good day for PA posts.

Great post, Hadyn.

I remember when Hadyn was all excited about this email from this guy in South Africa and how he'd found the book.
And we joked about how Trix Truter was (aside from having one of the greatest names of all time) possibly all the bad South African stereotypes we could muster.
But even if that is true, this is a lovely story, well written.

What a lovely story! Awesome in a "the interwebs brings us together" way, but also with a good old fashined dose of serindipity. I love it when stuff like this happens. Nice one, Hadyn!

Haydn, that's just a fantastic story. A real heartwarmer. Well done.

Radness!

Great story. Can I buy the movie rights?

Thanks all. It was a nice piece to write and like Megan said I was pretty excited about the whole thing.
Can I buy the movie rights?
It's yours but I want a percentage of the merchandising

Good on you Haydn, like everyone says, this is a marvelous story about connecting with the past.
How did we do it before the internet?
I once asked a question whether anyone knew anything about a ship called HMS Fratton, sunk in the English Channel in 1944 - my Grandfather's brother was on board - and got this response

That's an amazing story and incredibly sad at the same time

I already heard Hadyn's story but now I see it all laid out it's about the people and families behind sports personalities. However you play on the field, to still be respected by friends and family 40 years down the track is the real achievement.

Great story Hadyn (please note the spelling)! I thought your first blog makes interesting reading still - the All Blacks miss Carl Hayman more than we acknowledge. What happened to Tialata this year? http://publicaddress.net/default,4479.sm
