We have a good friend who lives on Madras, just north of Bealey. There are sink-holes in their neighbours' driveway big enough to drop a shopping trolley in, again. And their sewer lines are all fucked up, again.
We keep saying you can tell the sober local drivers around here, because they're the ones who appear to be swerving all over the road at random - dodging the potholes.

Jesus. I had no web access when this happened. Family were flying up to join me today. They made it out by about ten minutes. Kind of comforting to know I'm not the only one having a wee breakdown.

I can't remember the exact term I used, and I'm not going back and finding it because I have to catch a plane in three hours, but you did notice that I wasn't talking about Giovanni, right? I can totally see how in context people would take it that way, but I wasn't.

Aren't there meant to be party scrutineers during the counts to catch this sort of thing, or does that not always happen at the smaller polling places?
There were no scrutineers present for the count at our quite-sizeable polling booth.

I like to take time out occasionally to make sure Bart knows that, were it possible, I would climb inside his skull and lick his brain all over.
And the person who rapped you has presented as an intractable conflict-seeker in various places around the local blogosphere. Your sincere and good-faith response avoided the apparently inevitable car crash. I saw it and saved that one up mentally.

I am now, though I certainly wasn't raised that way. When I was a teenager, all my friends came from working-class families. The way you can tell how middle-class we are now is that all my friends are middle-class.
And class mobility isn't just about who you know who became a lawyer when their mother was a cleaner. It's also about who you know who became a cleaner when their mother was a lawyer.
