So it wasn't just sour grapes about sow crates... about time these chickens came home to roost.
Big business will always be cagey about their fat margins and lean with the truth.Given the choice, pigs don't shit where they eat or sleep.
unlike many politicians it seems - quite often when given things on a platter they'll still make a pig's ear of it and then sweat and squeal later - witness the farce-tracked Supercity (sty?) that may well turn out to be a pig in a poke...

The Boar War redux begins here
let the rasher gnarl be woven into some common sense and decency, and hopefully we'll revisit our lapsed social contract with the animals that we insist on living for us and in our midst and purview.yrs Eric Blair

His friend the poet Philip Whalen was probably the only one of the Beats who was familiar with this side of Kerouac.
and at least one other - the quintessential Beat poster boy and inspiration - Neal Cassady
What was it that attracted Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady to each other?
1) Sport:
From a child, Neal was fascinated by every sport and sportsman. He did all he could do develop his own skills as he ran to and from school, while he fed his mind on every sport and sportsman of the day. He dreamed of joining the football team at Notre Dame. Whatever he did, he had to be the best. He met Kerouac, a football hero, also interested in most sports. Jack was always astounded at Neal's photographic memory that could come up with every record of every sportsman past and present from baseball to auto racing.from The Holy Goof

last time I tried to watch rugby at a local bar was a descent into Bedlam and Babel - competing with the bigscreen was a juke box, a radio tuned to the races, pokie machines and the usual cross section of interested and disinterested bipedal boom boxes - I lasted 20 minutes and had to leave, shrinking violet that I am.

I prefer to have my images of war with religous overtones in a more 'Commando' style.
interestingly Commando and War Picture Library comics seem to be the most regular sales in the Trade Me comics section - while the more regular fanboy fare languishes in the "no bids" limbo...
So plenty of Christians (or insert preferred Deity here......) in those foxholes then...
