LOL so you're really "Harry Harrison's son's son Harry"? I can see why you pick Henry!
I think Garrett has had experience of soft treatment though, at least until now. And availed himself of it.

Interesting idea, Henry (surely it's Harry? :-)). Often crooked people have very harsh views on punishment, having themselves developed contempt for soft treatment that failed to alter their own behavior.

Hivemind!
Sorry to mythbust, but this is just a case of me being able to read, rather than being the 100th monkey*
*and anyway, I still insist I'm an ape.

I doubt he'd get away with having set up a whole alternate identity in NZ. But overseas...who knows?

What in the world is wrong with cookie?
Nothing, so long as you remember it's a sometimes food. I wonder if that's what Cookie Monster meant - the rest of the time he eats biscuits. They probably didn't have chocolate coated caramel, mint and fudge biscuits when he was a lad, and they can't really be called cookies, can they?

Damian, that revelation of an obscene remark to your friend rather puts in context the story about the psychiatrist's attack being over his wife. Something about Garrett's story just didn't ring true, people don't just get randomly attacked in public by well known professionals for no reason at all, and if they do and receive grievous injuries, those professionals don't just get a slap on the wrist. Nor do the victims get a slap on the wrist. Not even in Tonga.

I totally get basis for the never-vote-Green-again dummy-spitting, but seriously, who are you going to vote for ?
Indeed. Even voting in the elections at all is usually a choice of the lesser of evils.

I'm really surprised and actually pleased by the Herald editorial.

Cool video Sarah.

Is he really trying to rehabilitate the concept of dictatorship? That is quite priceless.
It actually scares me that he thinks like that.
I can understand dictatorship only in very, very extreme circumstances, where basically turning the nation into an army is required. We're not there, not even close. We've got an army, and they're already in Christchurch, and no-one has even come close to refusing help to the region. Everyone sees it as a sorely in need of help, and any help needed only has to be asked for. Where was there any evidence of justification for this measure?
