  • Voting Local 2010,

food for thought - paperback raita...
Just in case you needed another reason not to vote for Bob Parker in chch... The Press conducted a cultural taste test

Jim Anderton won by just four points, with perfect scores for his taste in books, television shows and movies overcoming his rejection of modern music and computer games.

Bob Parker rated well for his taste in computer games and television shows, but was pipped at the post after conceding he had not read a book in years.

  • Hard News: Hobbit Wars,

Be careful what you wish for...
    If everyone is an employee
and they can keep the production
to 90 days everyone could be fired
at the end with no questions asked...
    Perfect! hmmmm...

  • Hard News: The GST Punt,

    the plot sickens...

George, that's a very cool idea. Also good for children in the houses, to learn about gardening etc, and promote an interest in the well-being of the property.

One of the saddest things I've had to do, a while back, was turn my late dad's excellent garden bed back into lawn so my mum could rent the house out - renting agents said tenants would never keep the garden up...
Still some friends out Brighton way benefitted from getting some great topsoil for their fledgling gardens.

  • Hard News: Hobbit Wars,

    psychoparthenogenesis...
I am at a loss to really fathom where this whole crusade is coming from...

if, as I understand it, it stems from SAG reiterating in 2009 that their "Global Rule 1" enacted in 2002 does include Australia and NZ - Then why didn't this stoush erupt with King Kong or The Lovely Bones?
(I am assuming that the original LOTR movies were all pretty much shot before this "Global edict" was issued.)

So what changed? It doesn't sound like the discussion (between Jackson and potential actors) has been held so everyone is angsting about imagined outcomes.

A step back and some deep breaths are called for...

If is this addressed only at The Hobbit movie, maybe it's the continuing curse of New Line Cinema's (then) head, Robert Shaye (who) said that Jackson "will never make any movie with New Line Cinema again while I'm still working for the company." - he retired in 2008 when Warners took over New Line.

One also wonders what happens to the undistributed residuals that SAG collects,
    their FAQ doesn't address that...
and are New Zealand actors privy to their much vaunted Health and Pension plans...

... and in this new Global control environment I wonder how SAG's Bollywood and Hong Kong branches are going?

    The Wales Rider...

(I've also heard whispers that various folks in the US aren't at all happy that Starz/BBC Worldwide co-production Torchwood: The New World is going to be based out of Cardiff. It seems the Beeb, RTD and Julie Gardner really went to bat on that.)

as it should be, Cardiff is the spiritual home of Torchwood, they don't wanna widen that rift!

    Catering to the masses...

    Being called a class traitor

I feel this was just a case of the usual
    web malady - woeful spelling...

I'm sure they really meant that you are
    a Class Traiteur!

A word which indicates you are a fine provider of food for thought and to takeaway...
and that you are from a Guild background
and use your home to benefit others...

The absent Giovanni would call it a Trattoria ...

...and I guess this explains why most threads
end up discussing food! :- )

You are respected, warm fuzzies to you and yours...

    Ctrl+alt+delete
    the ultimate contract negotiation technique.

doesn't that just kill the directory information?
and the data still exists until overwritten...

Contrary to your imagination, the CGI shit gets coded and rasturbated by real people.

Dang! - you mean Tron is fiction!!?

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Hey, I'm all for supporting local efforts and that, but nothing will ever top Time Cube.

Wow! That Time Cube site does have it all...
in spades (as it were) - home on de ranged...

...and on checking the Chem Trails one I see them running an urban legend type story (about mysterious canisters in Jet Planes) that has been around a long time - now, as then, I am always suspicious of "aviation engineers" who can't spell hangar properly...

...still it keeps em off the streets, right?

I read some of the Uncensored mag once, I couldn't believe that they couldn't even be bothered taking out all the extraneous web site specific stuff - just cut, paste and print - money for old rope then...
