  • Cracker: Send in the Clowns, in reply to Damian Christie,

    Geri-attrition...?
re: that list of TV viewer age / demographic survey breakdowns.
I can't believe there is no 60+, or beyond, there has to be a big wave hitting the offshore economic bell curve buoys just about now...
...backed by a lot of spending clout, an implacable force pushing all before it weighted by either opinion or custom!

in many ways TVNZ 7, should be the channel to surf that wave...
it has (to recycle a phrase recently dropped by Fairfax) "exclusive compelling content", it doesn't condescend or insult, it engages and stimulates - this should be the "beach" of sanity we can retreat to, away from the high rollers and frothy deluge of the Commercial channels.

(or is this meant to be Heartland's job?)

...while TVNZ U just shows the utter contempt both the broadcaster and advertisers must have for the 15 - 24 year-olds (formerly known as valued youth) of New Zealand.

    ........

    plus @ Islander
I may have the wrong end of the stick about what your connection problem is, but if you have access to Sky, have you tried channel 077 for TVNZ7 as I think the FreeView channels are all available to all Sky viewers

  • Busytown: A new (old) sensation,

    Tolkein 'bout my g-g-generation....

Maybe he never would have finished it without all the badgering.

There was a lot more Badger action in CS Lewis' canon, while
most Badger action happens off the page in Tolkein's works
no setts and drugs and rock n roll here...

Kenneth Grahame and Rupert The Bear also have good strong Badger characters...

    weasel good then...

    TPPA Gore...

If we move to comply with anything like the American position in the TPPA talks, it will be time to head to the barricades, my friend.

...and just to make sure. let's ensure National doesn't get back in, in November - Groser Jack and co are gagging for the TPPA to go through!

  • Up Front: Fairy-Tale Autopsies,

how about a nose of gays...
...aka the sweet scented wild bunch ....
    (too posey?) ;- )

I always thought a “glad” of gays
    would be cool.

I think Dame Barry Humphries or even that self-styled "Prophet of the Fourth Gender"
Steven Patrick Morrissey may have preempted the glad-rag...

"the Line, the Which and the Wordrobe"...

But I probably should [have] two accounts so I can separate Emma from Plant Physiology.

some sort of auto-phyla system, perhaps?

  • Hard News: Perverse Entertainment,

I recall that Hoyle’s Black Cloud was actually quite intelligent.

    damn, s'true...
I seem to have conflated Black Cloud and either a story, or SF TV episode, from the dimly remembered past in which the boffins' brains fry because of all their preconceptions, whereas the humble gardener/handyman can communicate with the data-cloud-like etheric entity...

...oh well, luckily there'll be another extinction period along soon to cover that literary gaffe!

Play Misty for Me - or pushing solvent abuse?

a community of blogs = a numb osmotic fog

sadly an anagram fail: the "ly" is missing...
a numbly osmotic fog would nail it!

according to my stubby pencil and old envelope back
a more damning rearrangement of a community of blogs
might be a snide dig at the glib cant of you moms
    that's telling ya!
    :- )

...it's a nice concept though - in some ways the
whole internet is a numbly osmotic fog
    - Osmosis - the process of gradual or unconscious
    assimilation of ideas, knowledge, etc.

We just have to watch out for those who only absorb the rich
free-methane-laden ideas of Kiwiblog and similar oxygen-starved
cesspools - and any incoming intergalactic Black Clouds ...
