I certainly dont have her kind of power but I do have mine. The two dont mingle but they used to sort of - cohabit? Labour backgrounds, creativity in different ways, possibly sexually reserved- but hey, I really dont know about those latter things. I am a reserved and non-public person whereas Helen Clark has been an intensely public persona.
I'd respectfully suggest you know fuckall about South Island politics, paticularly Kai Tahu politics. -

We're moodily eating delicious food (some of it described beforehand) which doesnt include 'bait fritters but does include the champane...the Tory people are letting off crackers and singing. Which is painful. Those bastards cant hold a note.
And would you believe most of the songs date to the 1st and 2nd WWs?!

Kia ora David - many thanks, the book arrived early this week, and it's a sweetie. Will be buying at least another couple for susceptible rellies so - maybe? - you can upgrade the rags to sackcloth, and many more oats? Sufficient, say, for gruel?

Cooking the little fishy critters will begin after 10 when we have some idea of how the voting went...every critter fritter guarenteed to hold at least 100 of them (why yes! I do use a cooking spoonful!) tho' actually counting them isnt considered- couth.
About to open a sauv blanc and share a glass with an elderly neighbour who I *know* votes the other way - but what the hey, we're all in this waka together eh?

Well, Franz was grey & overcast, and there was not any kind of a queue...met a couple of neighbours coming out, and we chatted about- fish. No scrutineers in sight.Another bloke voted alongside me, but there were two officers, both cheery and pleasant. Bit busy earlier on, said one-
and -for the first time ever since I've voted on the Coast - she handed me a single sheet of paper! And there it was, a dear little Tai Toka ballot box! After 38 years, no sealed envelope rigmarole - and I have no idea why it was that way Lucy. The electorate covers a huge area, and yep, Maori are not a huge percentage of the population here, but it was great to stick a couple of ticks on the ballot paper, and go shopping. V. modestly - couple of bottles of NZ champane; a red & a green sweet pepper to symbolise my ticks & go with the Puhoi camembert I've been nurturing in the cheese-hutch for the past 5 days; crackers & dippers, and some sauv. blanc to contribute to the joy & frivolity I trust will reign in certain areas of the settlement tonight...
