For FTA telly to survive, either:
- Narrow cast advertising will have to get its act together (give my Freeview entire channels of ads scheduled just for me);
- The gummint will have to reintroduce the broadcasting fee (where do I sign?).Can anyone tell us how much of the current TVNZ6 & 7 content is going to continue to be funded into the land of future Barbosia?

The 5yo in the big boat with her cuzzies overnight.
French winemakers buying up farms, flogging off the sheeps, and replacing them with grapes.

It is obscene.
Actually, what I found obscene was Garth George on The Panel, referring to entire sectors of New Zealand's population as "a pack of wankers."
But I'll defend to the very end his right to do it.

There was a commercial classical station piped in from the states a few years back. Anyone remember?
Regardless, didn't last.

what we need is more, not less
I agree.
Q: would "creative and flexible" include a Radio NZ music publishing business?

It's pretty clear that Concert FM is prioritises a European conception of high-concept art music over everything else.
But that's simply a programming fault that they've been getting away with a bit longer than they should have. You still need the cultural showcase, just as with museums, libraries, whatever their programming approach.
They probably need to apply their rebranding exercise of recent years to their two sub-brands. My suggestion would be Natrad = news. Concert = art.

I predict a trainload of Argintinians will traverse the entire range of emotions from glee to despare. First, their team makes the quarter finals, but then they'll spend the entire match locked in a train somewhere west of Mt Eden prison, victims of switching problems.

Do folks think that mining our reserves will capture the imagination of the public enough to bring the government down?
Maybe, dunno. But thanks to Paul for the link to Kiwiblog. Wow, those guys are pissed off.
It seems Key's infuriated his own support base more than anyone, Fran O'Sullivan included.
DS, agree. This is like Avatar without the goggles.

TWG estimates upping GST to 15% will be worth $2.89b. 35% of this will be borne by the bottom 50% (by income) of the population.
Not being a tax specialist, by any stretch, I'm missing something here. What % should the bottom 50% pay?
Agree with Bernard H that the property welfarists need correcting, but I wish he'd given us a bit more analysis.

That statue is so cheesey.
I always thought the "hard road son, finding the perfect woman" ads were Frisco-grade gay. Pure Brokeback.
