That is utterly appalling. One thing the CCC has always done well here is social housing. It would be tragic if they stopped doing that. It's not like HNZ can keep up with demand.

I’m appalled that the govt is thinking of disestablishing (as it sounds) the regional economic development agencies. Like so many others in Chch I’ve had huge help from the Canterbury Development Corporation. Without their courses and their mentoring, how are Chch SMEs supposed to get organised and get going?
Isn’t economic growth and development what Key et al say they want?

Oh, Cowboy Junkies, wow. I remember wearing out my tape (!) of Black-Eyed Man back in the early 90s. And some of their later releases were also wow.
Some of them were more edgy, like this one:
They used to have an e-mail newsletter called Junk Mail. I don’t know how many people actually received it, it was generally gobbled up by my spam-filter. :-)

I think it's absolutely true that taking a photo takes you out of the moment; but also, looking at a photo later can take you back to that moment, and show you things you missed, particularly in a crowded setting. And without photos, memories often fade, dissolve, and blur together.
