And if I had a working fusion plant and a pony I could supply clean electricity to the entire country, too.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

If you think they are not, then you are a fool.
I think they are not. Foolish me. Or I mean, me foolish.
Won't it be great to re-instate that equal opportunity conscription policy that puts all the white, middle-class brightest young things, who see it as a privilege, in the front line as canon fodder for the marauding red devils. Oh, hang on, that's not quite how it works.
And before you start flinging more insults, my Grandfather was with the Maori battalion during the 2nd World War, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
No one here, to my knowledge, is degrading our military tradition. You seem to think there is a credible threat. I don't. And having lived in Japan, and spent a lot of time in Singapore, Taiwan and other Asian countries, including educating plenty of young Chinese students, I think your accusing the rest of us of standing with our fingers in our ears going 'lalalala' is a bit rich, IMNShO.

My first (coherent) thought was, wow, I can't wait to see Rachel Maddow get her teeth into this one.
Or Sarah Palin?

Sorry. This seems wholly inappropriate in hindsight, as this is in fact about people dying and suffering in Haiti, not about source material for comic relief. My bad.

Time to start thinking about rearming, folks.
I'm going to have to digest that. Are you serious?
Here's some light reading which I'm going to do while I decide whether, and how to respond.
James Fallows Copenhagen Archives.
Freedom and Capitalism: Non-Violence as a Form of Warfare (Mike Bonnie, US)
China introduces law to boost renewable energy.
I thought we might have moved on from the 'Reds Under the Beds' paranoia of the 60s, or was that 40s?, but clearly I'm just a naive utopian idealist. Yes they have some human rights issues to attend to, but you think the USA is any better? Guantanamo and the secret CIA detention camps ring any bells? If we are going to base our global military strategy on what Hilary Clinton and the USA DOD tells us, then we really are in for a nasty surprise. Do we seriously want to buy in to the 'terrorist threat' scenario? Seriously?

Ugh... God really needs to start interviewing new publicists, because this vile little hob-goblin isn't working.
Yeah. After the St Matthew's billboard my rather lame comedic reaction was;
'God must be getting desperate if he's hiring Saatchi & Saatchi'.
As for Pat Robertson, well that's a whole new kind of desperate, and it really isn't funny.

Ah yes, I guess I was looking at it from an aesthetic viewpoint. "Oh, look at the pretty colours".
Teaching it would be an entirely different matter. "Yes the colours are pretty, but could you just please concentrate on the $500 auto-pipette, because you just stuck it in sulfuric acid." That sort of thing?

Ironically, after my inauspicious beginnings, I now find myself managing a small laboratory, and unlike Lucy, I find Colorimetric assays quite sexy, and if you'll excuse me I'm just going to have a quiet moment with the HPLC, and Electro-Chemical Detector, which must surely have been spawned from the porn industry. What with the injector ports, pumps and columns and... sorry, where were we?
Oh yes, xkcd. Mmm, yes, good.

Haha! I'll just dance to it.
Lalala, lalalala la, lalala, lala lalala...

Love the Doot Doot. I mean ironically, sort of. What? And the Underworld.
[Redacted] Phew that was close, I nearly posted Kylie doing her remix of Blue Monday, but thought better of it just before the 15 minutes was up... Carry on.

Perhaps a 3D video would have helped me during sixth form chemistry.
Gossiping with friend I was passed a test tube.
"What's this?"
"Chloroform."
"What should I do with it?"
"Sniff it."
"Oh, Ok">-|o
