I think a neutral mid-point is essential, for it can include a range of possible motivations, such as 'this question is too complex to allow me to answer it' or 'this is a really stupid question' or 'I don't have an opinion on this issue' to 'fuck off with your dumb research' etc.
I blame management schools for bad research such as this, with their neglect of ethical considerations. -
In such a Semantic Differential scale, shouldn't there be a middle/neutral point akin to 'Neither agree nor disagree'? A non-committal response is a valid response. If UoA academics were involved in this, they are bloody incompetent.

I am doing a lecture on Ethics in Research in my Media Research course tomorrow and will certainly use this.

TVNZ fails to acknowledge the important distinctions between a self-selecting poll, and a properly sampled survey. The latter has much greater validity than the former.
Generally, there is a great deal of rubbish research around at the moment, exacerbated by the ease of online clicking. SayItNZ is a prime example ...the sort of online form that declares 'This will take about 10 minutes' and 30 minutes later you are still trying to answer their dumb questions. Their latest one jumps from banal questions about flea treatment for pets, to attitudes to oil exploration in NZ. The people who design such rubbish research need to take a course in research design (a bit hot on this at the moment as I am currently teaching a Media Research course).

The most thrilling viewing experience recently was series 3 of The Bridge' which we watched over 4 weeks, each weekend, with friends. It is as close to binge viewing as I can abide–you need time and space to saviour between episodes, with drama as rich as this, and with such complex characters as Saga.
Scandinavia is the source of such great TV drama, and highly influential on drama from other countries (check out Nordic Noir and Beyond website). You can discern such influences from the moment of the opening credits of new shows such as The Expanse.
I agree about Harry. Oscar Kightley declares that it is the best thing he ever did and it was a bloody shame that series two never happened. It was treated abysmally by TV3.
Also the comic collection 3 Words. A bloody lovely book. -
I have long admired the work of Gavin and his writing partner Rachel Lang. They have also been very generous in coming down to talk to my students. But somehow I can't yet bring myself to watch Filthy Rich. It is being recorded and I may get to it but only once a space between The Walking Dead* and the new Night Manager (TV One) appears--or once I can wrench the remote away from my dearly beloved and her fixation with The Zone channel.
* I have a quick trip to a conference in Atlanta GA at the end of this month and I could get you a tshirt.
