Another positive outcome: it might mean an end to all those stupid stunts/competitions that the commercial wallies used go run around radio survey time.

Jackson: just discovered this thread. I have been neglecting PA lately.
Next time you are down this way, you should stop in for a cuppa and inspect our foliage.

I guess the Sunday Star Times covering this story is a poke-in-the-eye for NZME's radio interests . But it might not help their merger plans.

I have been told, by a reliable source, that a condition of RNZ being part of the new ratings system is that they are constrained from publically comparing their results against the commercial networks. Neither do they have the budget to buy full-page, self-congratulatory newspaper ads.
Which is all rather bloody silly, and the another demonstration of the hypocrisy of the 'free' market

I was part of an excellent Pechakucha at The Meteor in Hamilton on Thursday night, with a theme aligned to NZ Music Month. Included Matthew Bannister, and Graham Cairns of the Magilicuddies (on the topic of edible kazoos).

Interesting to see that Coke sales are in steady decline in the USA (and presumably also in NZ) which is probably why they are buying up anything that can be bottled (check the labels). Many shops and cafes seem to sell only Coke-owned beverages.

A pal of mine Andrew Johnstone (ex Hamilton) was writing a considerable amount of copy for RIU, in the last throes of its published life. Largely unpaid, I believe (he is a noble fellow).
Has anyone else noticed that the Rialto Channel is screening performances by NZ musos around 8pm virtually every night through May? Tami Nielson the other night and Anthonie Tonnon coming up on May 20 (really looking forward to this one). All directed by Marty Duda of 13th Floor.

Excellent! Have fun, when there is an opportunity.
