James, the risk of cancer for Ozzie Uranium mine workers is 1-1250, ten times that of a fatal accident in other Ozzie industries.
Ozzies not returning the tailings to the ground & so the radioactive dust is spreading & so will the deaths etc.

The health rort that exists in NZ isn't from the Physios it's from the Specialists & Doctors who work in the Public and Private sectors doing the same job and adjusting their time tables to maximise income.
If you work for Company X doing Job A you can't work for Company Y and do job A. It's a clear conflict.
If John Key wants to get at the wealthy rorting the tax trough, set a clear example.

I've been reading Lester R Brown & Plan B 2.0.
He talks about failed states economies & ecologies, so environmental refugees.
What I didn't see coming was the Somali Pirates as a result of Industrial Fishing & the resulting fisheries collapse. Makes sense and follows the failed state but transfers it to the sea.
It's gonna get real hairy when they get hold of planes and divert air traffic :( -

National are now officially a Pain in the Neck. The economy is on a down turn and people are short of cash, so ACC have decided to deny treatment to the poor.
Another killer (possibly literally) is the movement in Christchurch of the Sensitive Claims area to Belfast. That's the geographic equivalant of moving from Wellington to Masterton.
Many of these people aren't functioning well enough to catch the bus to Belfast. Result was a massive drop in barely coping claimants. They just hang out in Latimer Square, behind the central ACC office in Oxford Tce. -
Taking a punt on this one.
I suspect the writer of the article on Caritas in Vertate choice to use love instead of charity has alot to do with Patriachy and his own Anachist beliefs. Charity has a power imbalance, a patriachy, but love is univeral. -
Absolutely Ian Mc. And probably if someone is a risk to the community there is a medical aspect that might be more effective to focus on, which is very different to what we havew today.
Carbon Efficency is a questionable approach I'm not convinced by it at all. That we prolong the road to destruction isn't a path to survival.
We need to seriously look at our:
Quality of life vs Standard of LivingThese are different things. Our 'Advanced Economy' is not a sustainable option and not able to be transfered to the majority of the worlds people. What is sustainable is a good quality of life and this is transferable to the worlds people.

Not speaking Latin myself, my translation of Caritas in Vertate is Love in Truth.
The Common Good (50th edition!), the mag of the Catholic Worker has a good write up on Caritas in Veritate.
Now included in the concept of 'the common good' is the environment and that sharing with the poor is not an optional extra. It is essential to living a Christian life.

Sorry only up to no.47 online. So you'll need to contact your local Anachist-Christian or online for a copy.

“Barton has accused me of being dishonest, and or stupid, on the issue of climate change,” Wishart said today.
There is nothing defamatory here, we just need to remove the climate change qualification.
