Isn't the war on drugs, just anextention of the machiavellian work of The Prince, and all about having a constant enermy, the poor.
Of course this was over taken by the christian rights war on Islam, who they have more in common with than they have differences, but never let the facts get in the way of your war.
Afghanistan needs to be the worlds legitimate producer of opium for medicinal use and this should include addiction treatment.
Keep it profitable, stablise the economy and let then start to invest in local infrastructure. Lend them some DSIR boffins for the value added market. :p

My default position is listening to Dave Haslett. I had the pleasure to share an undergrad class at Uni with him. He's an interesting guy.

"From my limited experience of the breed, it was the casual brutality, glorification of criminality and abuse of women, and utter disdain for the property and human dignity of 'outsiders' that churned my stomach."
Sounds like first years from all boy schools to me.
Open a T-shirt printshop in Whanganui and you'll be made.

Thanks Hadyen, I wonder if they were talking about me?
They didn't sell the glassware last time I asked.
Cheers & good health. -
Jed thanks for reminding me of Three Boys. I've had their IPA at Pomeroys but not the Oyster Stout.
They fill my 1/2G too.Anyone know where to get more 1/2Gs?

A group of Austrians have been asking me to recommend any good ales in NZ.
They were drinking Tui at the time and not being an expert on beers I thought I'ld leave the Draught/Ale story at the door.
Get this - they lamented that they only get to drink Lager!
I've recommended the Dux de Lux,
Pomeroys, & Twisted Hop as great brew bars (OK Poms don't brew but close enough).I'm trying to get them onto Crates of Tui/Speights, for the Environmentally friendly aspect.
I don't really care what an Ale is vs a Draught, but if any good ones in and around Christchurch could be recommended these guys & girls would be most appreciative.

Recently my aunty had her brain tumour removed after 15yrs. I don't think hers was caused by porn, but who knows? -
The Howlett Foundation sounds like community service. Doing good for all the wrong reasons, but still doing some good.
Is there a Charity Audit Authority, beyond finacial statements? A measure of needs addressed, as opposed to works done(which may not be required).
Thinking of "Fairtrade" here as well. Moving from a position of slavery into free employment hasn't always had positive outcomes. Sounds wrong, but many ex-slaves are worse off as employees doing piece work, and having to house and feed themselves.
The all knowning market doesn't often correct itself on moral issues. The immoral price for coco isn't expected to change post-slavery, say Cadbury. Therefore their workers will now be working for the equivilant of slave-wages, otherwise the price must go up.
They won't be whipped, but they might starve?
