Great NZ Holiday? Bah, humbug.

One of the downsides of working for northern hemisphereans is that when they are snowed under and cold, they want us to feel the same, and product release that I'm working on is set to 3rd January.

Seriously.

For all those customers who feel that the best thing to do when they get back from Christmas/New Years break is to install a whole new mail, antivirus and antispam system.

I could understand if they'd actually made it Christmas itself, at least only poor quadruple timing techos would be affected by a few days instability. But the day when everyone gets back to work?

Anyone else out there on the Christmas gyp-list?

I was going to go for 'bouncebackability' but as usual, was far too disorganised and, ultimately, late.

I am a little disappointed that "unbundled" was the word of the year - does anything related to Telecom really deserve to win any prizes. I mean, come on, Richard.

OTOH, i think w00t!, with the proper marketing, could win every year:

W00t! - the All Blacks finally won the World Cup! (2007)
Al Gore for President, Woot.
i spend too much time on the internet, woot!

So what if strictly speaking this is not proper usage. I just think it better captures our nation's vibrant essence and optimism. I would, like, totally clean up in advertising and PR i reckon.

I would have gone for for "ohforfuckssake" based on the number of times I have said it when looking at newspapers this year.

But the word "unbundled" is such a load of consulting arse (I think I used it at least twice in my time as a "little c".)

Still, as they say, don't complain if you don't vote.
