I thought he overreached earlier, but he hasn't so far. I hope his predictions come true.
A question about your line
America in 2018 is a country with no agreed set of facts to unite over.
How do you think this sad state of affairs has come about?

When I read the Guardian article I am, for the first time, genuinely terrified of these people. They are very nasty.
How the Republican Congress can sit there blindly is beyond me..
What can we do? I will always remember what Obama said – the most important office in a democracy is that of citizen. Also, I have NYT and Wash Post subs. -
All I know I will miss Obama as he is a bastion of humanity and sanity in an increasingly inhumane and insane world.
We hear he might be coming to Queenstown once he retires. -
At my sister-in-law's recent wedding I spoke about how difficult it was for those brave advocates and I asked the guests to thank them so we could celebrate this wedding.
Fran Wilde is some strong woman which I have personally expressed to her years ago. -
Am I cynical or is the PM? When the 2 Lockwood designs were 'found' by the PM's pollster in March 2014 and here they are in the final four along with another fern and, to me, an ugly koru, I am wondering whether this $26m process was just a show for a pre-determined outcome.
Mind you, you cannot expect too much more these days. -
I have to admit, now I only watch the news & CampbellLive, bar 1 -2 other programmes, on free-to-air. The rest is a mix of various channels recorded on the Sky box or via the internet.
I despair as well.

Hard News: Doing over the witness, in reply to
I wholeheartedly agree. Further, I cannot understand why there is not an outcry in editorial pages of our major newspapers denouncing this intrusion into a journalist's home and taking his gear. Are the newspapers, tv and radio really going to turn a blind eye to this?

Russell, I'm glad you brought this up because it really troubled me how an incident that happened a few seconds before the awarded scrum could be looped on the ground screens without a request from the match officials.
Surely there needs to be a protocol to manage this instituted prior to the World Cup. -
Hard News: The humanity, in reply to
No-one should deny this blow-up but to me, this is a reflection of the wounds and grief that each Labour MP is feeling just now and I expect yesterday's caucus meeting would have been very explosive and full of emotion. This events should have been expected and are necessary to 'clear the air'.
Now, given that I do not expect the caucus to remain so-called divided after a period of reflection, put past grievances behind them and agree a path forward -
Well said Russell with a couple of things I would add.
Looking at Paddy last night and the Stuff headlines this morning there is simply too many sensational and misleading headlines/comments when battles arise. The pundit may feel better but it does the public a disserviceLabour is right to shut all comment down for as long as possible just to take the heat out of the current situation. The media will hate it but there may be a chance of quiet assessment and analysis coming from this period. Let's hope so.
