Speaker: Banking on a relationship, in reply to
I'd have been very happy if they had queried it. Even put a stop on it until I replied. They have my email, they have three phone numbers and my snail mail address. They used none of them.

It may be a general issue.
They put a hold on my card because they didn't like the look of a US$5 donation I made to the ALS - a perfectly legitimate organisation (the ice-bucket challenge chaps). They didn't bother to tell me. Or try to contact me. It was Christmas. I had to go into the bank to sort it. And then, after being assured the card was active ... it wasn't. Oh what a merry chuckle I had in the bookstore. -
That autopsy report is from 2001/2002, not 2012.

I have bags of smoked salmon in the freezer and can knock up a frittata in 10 min from a standing start with whatever vege are lying around looking a bit sad.

Holy cow but that middle man in 'Tailors party in sap' looks like my Dad - and his father was in the Wellington Regiment.
A good reminder to label one's photos
Thank you for this -
The worst teacher my daughter had, the one that handed out worksheets with 1950s geography to fill in and whose idea of creative writing was getting them to re-write a previous student's poem would be considered the best under an assessed-by-simplistic-multi-choice-test system.
We've just volunteered to help the Greens this election

My normal work trousers and an old long-sleeved T-shirt. I get a bit sweaty, but not too much (I change into a less-old shirt at work).
I really can't justify special clothes for it when the old stuff works fine. It's only 20-30 minutes depending on the wind ferocity.
And a high-vis vest that we go for free from my daughter's intermediate school -
I recommend spending some time with "The Times" archive from between 1840 and 1907 and reading the editorials, opinions and letters to the Ed. about the Deceased Wife's Sister's Marriage Act in Britain. EXACTLY the same arguments ("unnatural!", "unBiblical!!" "ruination of family life!!!").
And we all know that traditional marriage and family life ended forever in Britain in 1907, don't we?Some of the arguments are hilarious

Thank you!
I've sent the link to my befuddled ("referendum? what?") colleagues

Just requested that my local library buy "Running the Books". I hope you're getting a % from increased NZ-based sales?
