Ak.Council are padlocking beaches to 'stop campers' and 'congregations', seems harsh and unkind, especially out West with the bush rahui in place. Also a wee bit discriminatory against the less able and people who have to live in campers, vans or their car. Of course we (youngish, fittish) can still walk in to the beach but that means the 'congregation' is on the other side of the gate but that is not the Councils problem.

This is the first up on a google search in articles about roadside drug testing. I've never heard of Mike Yardley before but I only needed to see one other article of his which was a pro Trump piece and used the terms feminazi and snowflake in the first paragraph to understand his narrow political orientation.
Your piece is a very gentle fact check in relation to to this kind of disinforming bile.

Thats called putting the cart before the horse.
The idea is that a black market charges more because the illicit nature of the activity comes with high risks, so a legal/decrim paradigm would assume a drop in price. However the trope that people smoke dope regardless of the legislation surrounding it becomes a bit weak if the country is flooded with budget buds. Then the tax becomes a health mechanism, so anybody voting for law change expecting a price drop bonanza might be in for a surprise. What is the price of an ounce of heads these days?

I get the idea that the ebb and pull of a tax on ganja would need to keep it relatively expensive (a.) for public health by limiting intake economically (b.) to keep the legislators sweet by providing enough tax to pay for mental health services and pop up music festivals. My question is what will happen to the street price of marijuana; will it go up, down or stay the same? The sting here being the potential for a prohibition on home growing (similar to the prohibition on growing tobacco)to keep the tax take high and a free market profitable.

It's probably, like many things 'in the diary', February is the month we send up the helicopters and go bush hunting for pot. Quite an exciting job and much more fun than pulling over drunk drivers. Unfortunately the net result is a de facto relationship with current 'big 'marijuana ' by keeping the price of black market pot artificially high.
