Yeah, trippy intro on that track.

To the naysayers: wouldn’t you?
I imagine your answers would vary, based on things like how much people value their privacy etc…
I have a dream that my fall, little children, will one day live in a nation where it will not be judged by the colour of its leaves, but by the content of its adiposity.

Ha, yeah Steve's had my number a while now....
I am a pragmatist and you are an idealist.
I've decided to embrace it.

I’d like to see Mr Obama take their estimated budget for a Syrian conflict and pay the entire amount to the 1 million or so Vietnamese who are disabled or have health problems due to the U.S. military’s use of Agent Orange

these dudes are just acting like fanboys
That does take a little getting used to, she’s featured in a bunch of posts. But it is very cool to be reading passionate discussions about New Zealand music again – reminiscent of nzmusic.com.
O, and audioculture, definitely feels like it’s crossed that W.I.P line now, chocka.

I guessed that 'bedroom' jibe was a reaction to some of the misinfo making the rounds:
Lorde is a barely out of her cradle (she’s just 16), bedroom pop magician from Auckland, New Zealand; the kind that makes the rest of us feel really inadequate :) . She’s got a good, strong voice, writes pretty decent lyrics (did I mention she’s just 16!) and manages to infuse an appealing, youthful freshness to her music.
Fortunately Ella seems fully equipped to deal with this kind of crap:
No -- if it were up to my parents, I would be an academic and not have a music career. Don't get me wrong, they've been super supportive, but I think it's not every parent's dream, because it's difficult for me to go to school now… They love what I do, but they're just not "stage parents" by any means. My dad is a civil engineer, and my mom is a stay-at-home mom. The fact that my parents weren't really involved in music was kind of good, because it meant that I had something that was private and personal.

Agreed. Mine was a response to small scale stuff vs launching major wars.

It’s their thing.
Mr Reagan would probably prefer you narrowed that down to the Bush family. Truman is miffed about missing the cut.
As is Roosevelt.
As is Wilson.

OnPoint: BTW, the NZ Police can use…, in reply to
It’s a frightening time.
I’ve considered this statement a while, and I’m not sure if it’s any more or even as frightening for the activist community as the aftermath of October 15th 2007. Perhaps recklessly, perhaps numbed, having lived a decade in a nation (PRC) where the Government has little regard for communication privacy. I’m appalled by the 5 eyes data collection, though not surprised and certainly not frightened by it.
This is about the quality of our relationships with each other. How can we have proper human relationships with each other, if we have no private space where, in which we can communicate honestly, our opinions to each other without living in fear that those communications could be intercepted and used against us?
During the Town Hall Public Meeting, it was Russel Norman’s speech, and particularly this point that resonated most resonantly with my experiences and observations here.

Hard News: Game Lorde, in reply to
I thought Aled Jones rescued pop music back in ’85, in the same key as Royals for anyone who enjoys listening to 2 songs at once.
