A really adventurous council might consider closing Queen Street to traffic. Same for Ponsonby Road.
Then a tram loop put in place.

People will only come somewhere like Queen Street to shop if it offers retail experiences that are unique, as opposed to the ubiquitous chain store experiences that can be found in any mall - where parking is free, punters feel 'safe' and exercise required is minimal.
To my mind Queen Street is quite lively, compared to the tumbleweed aesthetic of a few years ago. I'll go to Queen Street for the unique experiences: Real Groovy, Q Theatre, The Town Hall, Giapo's, The Civic, Aotea Square and Smith and Caughey's (very occasionally). I have my fingers crossed for the restoration of the St James Theatre, as this was a terrific live music venue, and I used to love going to gigs there.

I enjoyed your (time-shifted) Media7 last night, Russell. Fascinating as usual.
One tiny point: actor Jared Turner was already well established as the 'Energy Spot Guy' when he was cast in The Almighty Johnsons. So in this case, no-one is trading on his fictional image as a God of cold things and dodgy sexual proclivities.
Nice visual gag, though.

Listening to LDR now. Pleasant, well-produced pop. Not Earth-shattering, but listenable. Undemanding. Would be good in a car.

Hard News: The music I listened to, in reply to
Slave Ambient is a feeling thing for me. I haven't a clue what the songs are about but the music sweeps me along. Great driving soundtrack.

Thanks. And the first pic is Cross Street - not Fort Street.
Loving the Capture photoblog. Cheers.

I reckon it's been an excellent year for music.
Locally, I've listened to @Peace a lot this year. Also finding the Pajama Club a lot of fun - most interesting thing Neil has done in a long time IMHO. Was Phoenix Foundation's Buffalo this year? Never tire of that.
Internationally, I haven't got tired of Let England Shake (PJ Harvey), The King is Dead (The Decemberists), Metals (Feist), Slave Ambient (War on Drugs) and The Whole Love (Wilco).

Governance - another nasty word that seems to be everywhere and used as a general excuse for apathy.
