You may read my excellent views --- on, say, social welfare or the enduring greatness of Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' --- and you may well think
ignoring the gaffaw at the first part of that sentence and you get to what all this social media palaver is all about, thinking (and engagement).
we humble readers get to bask in the light of blogerati like rb and dpf, but also think and engage with them.
and i hate to snark, but jane just doesn't freaking get it.

But morally and practically, it’s now the Wild West out there, because we can no longer easily tell where journalism ends and politics begins.
i think, this quote from her is particulary telling. awhile back i did an ego-stroke on RB when i said that he *is* a brand. but i was serious (and not just smoochey-schmoocey) because our new infobesity is pushing us towards trusted information sources.
and the good news is that anyone with the ability to sift info well can be that source.
the gooder news is that we no longer have to rely on half-hearted hacks resting on their laurels for this service. coddingtonswallop anyone?

jeeessus i wish i had stuck with my original line of study and become a geographer.
bureaucracy is... [not ideally suited to] my way of thinking.

Phelps also visited Dunedin in 2003 to train with Duncan Laing
"train".
be he actually just went on the shotover jet and jumped the bungy.

perhaps we can take some remotely reflected glory there?
my favourite bit of reflected glory recently must be the snippet of report on radio nzl this morning.
apparently we as the most glorious sporting nation on earth have a link to phelps.
he visited here once.

I suppose Carl Lewis is African in some sense.
nah, i meant one of those kenyan or ethiopian blokes. the name has completely escaped me, but i'm suspicious it was selasse?
but yes. mr redgrave is also a top athlete. mr phelps is a great athlete who needs to keep it together for at least another 12(?) years...

jeeeeeesus.... all i remember of my first day was being dropped off my step-father.
later in the day everyone got to eat fish and chips... FOR LUNCH!
i thought i was in heaven.
the hard-out bullying didn't start till i was about 11 or 12.
and @ steve. i say we find out if the old prick is still teaching. if he is. we form a posse!! victimising an old man is equal in the morality stakes to victimising a child.

michael phelps? meh.
who was the african distance runner who won gold for 4 olympics straight? in a field where you could probably only win two medals in a games?
*that's* a great athlete.

is the only bright light in this that the whole schmoozle hasn't been "falluja'ed" a la 2004?
