Matthew, would enforced labelling of nature of production (whatever metric it may be - perhaps free-range "tick", and sqm per pig) cause trade issues though?

Hang on, I'm married - where are these assets and tax breaks?!

Slightly off topic but NZ Deer Leather is now in very high demand with the big European luxury fashion houses - apparently we have one of the highest numbers of farmed deer in the world (most other deer leather comes from wild animals so is marked).

the fatuous burblings of Messers Laws and Holmes (who really should STFU about other people's marriages, if you want to talk about public hypocrisy).
Indeed - and this one key problem with doing it for "exposing hypocrisy" reasons. It becomes a pretty quick race to the bottom.

I am clearly the only non-religious person in New Zealand who really liked getting (non-religiously) married.
:waves:
I did it twice (to the same woman even!) in the space of 2 weeks. A great, non-religious, celebrant-officiated NZ one at a good friends restaurant, followed by a very COE blessing in an English Cathedral. While the religious bit of the second one didn't really speak to me, it did speak to a number of people in our broader family and was frankly still a damn good time.

the Little Yappy Dog of Gay Marriage
That would make a great Cartoon Network show.
The only argument I could be bothered arguing against (and I had to come up with it myself) is that regardless of what society has "done" with it, the Church is still the originator ("tangata whenua"?) of marriage and has a certain power of veto.
I would disagree and say we have moved far enough from that originator now that it's society's to do with what they will, not Mr Benedict et al. And the Church's approach to same sex relationships is so at odds with society that they have given up that "ownership".
But it does seems the only scrabblingly defensible argument. -
And as proof, I present Disco Piggy:

I wouldn't be surprised if Ms Rankin or her organisation have made comment somewhere about poor old Mr Mason being "victimised" by the S59 law actually - certainly their comrades in arms have. If someone drags that up right about now (or if/when he gets convicted) then that'll be a pretty big blow.
