Hard News: Local journeys on the cusp of…, in reply to
every day in Christchurch
James Dann has a piece at The Spinoff which scratches the surface of the madness in Chchch – http://thespinoff.co.nz/society/18-04-2017/parking-nightmare-how-the-car-lobby-is-hijacking-the-christchurch-cbd-rebuild/
It also now transpires (according to The Star which is hard to link to ) that the Health Dept put the kibosh on a 700 car carpark near the Hospital which is in crisis as far as staff, patient or visitor parking goes – no linked up planning anywhere on show.

Speaker: The Brexlection, in reply to
The Remains of the Day...
or the Day of the RemainsWhat do you think the legacy of Corbyn and Momentum will be?
I'd like to think that they'd wrest the wheel from the blinkered driver just before the bus went off the cliff, but they'd have to get up front near the driver first - meanwhile the conductor has jumped off the back platform with the takings - Austerity Binge redux!

I'm chuffed to see it beyond these shores and coming back at us - but I'm thinking it is even better exposure/validation for Flying Nun.I'm hoping Lorde goes across well - just to stick it to all the meathead haters in the Stuff comment sections at the moment - between the stories about her and Sonny Bill Williams I am gobsmacked at what people think they can say 'anonymously' - if it's their opinion they should own up to it.

I just watched Canadian band Preoccupations on the Coachella live feed – never heard of them before but I did enjoy them – a joyous noisy band (more Gordons than Echo and the Bunnymen) – and their taste in teeshirts is impeccable!
The drummer had a Verlaines tee and one of the guitarists had ‘my’ Flying Nun ‘eyeball cherub logo’ tee on! -
Nasa believes Saturn's ocean-bearing moon Enceladus could support lifeforms
No word from the NZ Herald on house prices there as yet!

Next Saturday, the 22nd, is Record Store Day
…and it’s also Earth Day – to be marked in Chchch
by a Pro Science March at 10amIt is time to ‘Stand Up for Science’ Christchurch!
Saturday 22nd April – 10-11:30AM – Earth Day
We invite you (Scientists, Science students and Science supporters) to march from outside the Canterbury Museum, down Worcester Street, to Cathedral Square with us.
Once we arrive, there will be a few speakers and then we will disburse. The mission is to express to our community, our government and our world that we will protect Science and evidence-based research and facts.
We are also marching to support those who are being negatively effected by attacks on Science in the U.S and all over the world. We are marching to show that we support and value Science in our lives and that we will stand up to protect it.
This will be a peaceful march, we will not be focussing on how we don’t all necessarily agree on everything each other stands for, but on what we do agree on: the importance of Science in our lives.
