chillingly Chills-like...

speaking of crumpled old lives...
I've only just found out that American Splendor creator Harvey Pekar died on July 12th, aged 70...
-
When I was younger I used to wear my Mum's sheepskin lined Leather Flying Jacket*, whenever I could, eventually it was handed down to a nephew, now I wear my Dad's old "trouble up t' mill" flat cloth cap and whatever will fit me that's clean...
...speaking of Clean t-shirts, what do ya do with all those old memorabilia shirts: Clean - Boodle, Boodle, Boodle; Rip It Up; Toy Love; Shake!; Chris Knox; Bats; etc...
*she was the first woman to get her flying licence in Marlborough after the war, mostly flew tiger moths and gliders

Are you saying I'm all mouth and trousers?
you'll just have to be careful when talking off the cuff that you don't come undone on the fly...
FWIW: personally I don't think the new Media 7 set-up works - I miss the table and the audience seems an awful long way away, in fact it is a very odd shaped studio, seems too narrow and the aerial shots add nothing and feel claustrophobic and agoraphobic at the same time - I know you had a lot to cover - but it jumped around too much for me... Content good though and Dr Haywood is very telegenic... -
The Motel in God's Eye...
Kinda reminiscent of Douglas Gordon's 24 Hour Psycho, in which the Hitchcock film was radically slowed down. Don DeLillo is a fan.
Spooky, I just finished reading Point Omega, I just wanted Tony Hillerman's detectives Joe Leaphorn or Jim Chee to arrive and find the missing daughter...
or for something to happen! -

Bad Joyce, Good Joyce, No choice...
Sacha linked to this piece of Joycean decree in the Ideology for Evidence thread, dismissing an AA initiative for training young drivers:But Transport Minister Steven Joyce balked at the cost and called the proposal "simplistic". He said he agreed young people needed improved skills but "if we had $8 million to spare, we would spend it in different ways".
and then we have Bob Parker (former TV presenter and hopefully one term mayor of Chch) in today's Press proposing an initiative for training young drivers :
The programme would not cost Christchurch ratepayers as it would be funded by sponsorship, grants and a fee for participants.
...Joyce "personally commended" Parker for addressing the issue.Shame Joyce won't address it himself and is only interested if someone else pays...
...doesn't he realise some of these untrained drivers could crash into his precious trucks!! -
nay-bore hoods and alpha-betting shops...
...what is this, Sesame Street?
oh well, there's always some muppet trying to promote inner city communities...
