Time for another Michael Moore doco.
Er... the last one didn't bode terribly well. Not saying it's his fault, but I'd rather not jinx this election as well.

Actual sebaceous cysts, on the other hand, look exactly like chickpeas. It's uncanny. I didn't get to keep mine - there were enough to make a reasonable amount of hummus - but I did take a picture of the top of my head with the stitches and I used it for a couple of weeks to scare my friends.
You're all lucky (Russell especially) that I don't know how to post pictures. (I expect you can't, which is wise).

She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food.
Go us!

Not a weekend in Russell with Paris?
That's pure genius. I hope no TV producer heard you though.
I know this is not in the spirit of the thread but can we avoid using quantum as a term of reference.
Yes, but then if you start down that particular road I'll be compelled ask that a function be introduced so I can send a mild electrical shock to the nest poster who uses the word "meme". Which is also misapplied, and derives from one of the most stupid concepts in the history of Western thought.

I think it's an entirely legitimate and news-worthy area to explore. Especially if Palin believes that the End of Days are imminent, and it's "God's will" that the United States has a role to play in the unfolding of Biblical prophecy.
The thing is: what she herself said is a lot more outrageous than what her pastor said. So let's cut the pastor thing out - it's a lame argument, plus it reminds people of Wright - and go straight for Palin. Which is I'm sure what will happen when and if she gets interviewed in one of the Sunday morning shows.
And if people bring Wright up, let's discuss Hagee.

We can agree on a wager and work out the detail later...trust is a wonderful thing.
Done. I like trust.
I do however trust that if I put my faith in McCain wining, it gives Obama a leg up, as I'm forever the pessimist and often happily proved wrong.
My other bet thus far is a lunch at Maria Pia's, and my counterpart there has already said she'd be more than happy to pay that kind of price to secure that kind of outcome. If I lose, on other hand, it's a double whammy. (Which is why I chose that particular restaurant - food that good will never taste bitter).

when her own pastor is equally prone to over-heated apocalyptic rhetoric.
I'm still unsure how you can equate the two things. On one hand you have a pastor who makes a pronouncement regarding the end of times, and an egalitarian one at that. On the other, you have a pastor who makes an incendiary political speech about the entanglement of religion with national and international affairs. The former is not newsworthy. The latter is absolutely newsworthy, especially when a candidate for political office is part of the congregation. Does Obama agree with Wright's view as expressed in his sermon? Personally, I'd like to know, I think it's a perfectly legitimate question worth asking. Unfortunately, the whole thing has been condensed to a three second soundbite designed to scare white people, so Obama had to do a Usain Bolt and run like mad in the opposite direction.
Now, Hagee, that's a whole other story.

Loved going to the Sheild parades in Hamilton as a teenager, and the sheer pride that a sheild win would generate.
When I emigrated to NZ Waikato had the shield. We went to a chemist in Hamilton to buy some insect repellant and there it was, in all its splendour, sitting alongside sunscreens and assorted lotions. It taught me a couple of important lessons about New Zealand, right there. It also made me realise that the Italian soccer championship, being called scudetto or little shield, must have been something of that kind in origin
and that having an object to embody it would be way cool. -
But I am also very open to suggestions.....
I wasn't thinking of something as crass as money, but, you know, being an expat perhaps there's something I could send you (although I'm sure you visit often), and equally in Bali there might be something of modest monetary value but able to symbolically rekindle the joy I felt the day when the United States elected their first black president...
Or we could have a PA wide American election pool, and the winner gets to spend a weekend in Paris with Russell.

Will it last...maybe not but it's a big jump from 5 points down a week ago.
It will not, but by the time the bounce dissipates they might be roughly where they were before the conventions, and that's an absolutely fantastic result for McCain.
This ain't enough to shake my confidence in the final result, and that offer of a friendly wager is still open :-)
