Yeah, but what size block are we discussing here? I can get a 500gm block of house-brand Edam at Countdown for under $10.

Ozstralian cheese! I 'spose I could support the packers but I'd rather buy some good NZ stuff. Although my concern really is the ramming of legislation, that is happening in the House this week. I felt a bit sick yesterday, but, sadly, I expected it. I am glad however, that the Maori Party has opposed the 90 day fire at will.

Yep. And if I recall correctly, for people earning around that mark, and who don't have children (ie aren't getting WFF), you get a whole $10!

And that's before tax which as Cullen said yesterday, not even a block of cheese, perhaps a slice :)

Man, I 'm bored already. 1 hour and no arguing. Might end up reading the "blame Labour now that they are gone goss"! Oh, no need, Address in reply debate is doin' that now. :)

  • Southerly: Busytown,

Incidentally, do the media in New Zealand care about the world plunging into recession (maybe even depression)?

Key (not John) words like Obama, rescue, cute dog, and cheese going through the leaky building roof may inspire a wee look from msm but then again, maybe not. Whadda'ya gonna do?

  • Hard News: Deadly Exuberance,

It was the same when I did my time in retail. We'd always be really busy after a public holiday cos people couldn't wait to go shopping. Maybe it was more enjoyable than spending time with the in-laws, who knows?

Boxing day Sale was always the bitch :) We would suggest to customers on Christmas eve to get gift vouchers for pressies so they could get more bang for their buck on Boxing day. Most appropriate name, I thought.Home by 2am Xmas day after setting up sale, back at 7am Boxing day to start sale. Ahh Retail,I remember it well :)
P.S Probably why I don't hurry on posting anymore either.I am still on page 2 dammit

Side Show Bob has thrown his toys down in Christchurch.

    Shep.
That was enough for me to contact your council .A landlord knows their responsibilities. All happy to .have their flower show, stuff the residents eh. Sounds like bully tactics to me.

OTOH, as a homeowner who will actually have to borrow money to extend the house soon, I'm starting to feel guilty about the windfall ..

I know a good builder.... one who cares :)

  • Hard News: Total Attitude,

    Words are powerful tools.

People are powerful tools. One thing I discovered on partying one night was my man told me he fell in love again (happily it was with me :) A woman at the very enjoyable party, on asking a question, responded with an answer I couldn't understand. Thinking, this could be an accent, a different language, or that she may have been out of it,(remember it was a good party), I approached her and explained my dilemma. I didn't understand. This beautiful woman then told me she was deaf and had people walk away all the time, and not to worry, she was used to it. I explained that when it came to deaf people, it was my ignorance that put us in this situation, of which we then continued to educate both of ourselves and solve the problem of no one talking to either of us, and if my memory serves me right (I have an excuse, brain haemorrhage) We shared a smoke. Smiles all round. My man later told me that to see the ease in which I conversed with her was a pleasure. I commented that it was easy, no question about it. People is people anytime.

  • Hard News: Total Attitude,

Anyway, are we ready to be entertained, even motivated, by an intellectually disabled comedian? Should we?

Of course we are. (IMO) People is people and when any person can gift, motivate, entertain another, that is just fine in my book.A few years ago, I helped on some educational piece about learning to walk again up at Ak Hospital (which I found beneficial to me, and, it passed boring Hospital sleep time)At times it was downright funny and that is always good. Nothing like laughter. We should all try it a little more often. :)
