Great news in the South
I am reliably informedthat the Bannockburn pub has Emerson's on tap
I am just a bit too busy in the winery to visit this week but a personal check will be done!
Apparently a merino ram joined the crowd at the bar on Sunday(probably a Speights drinker) but my informant is a yank who doesn't know sheep but he does know beer -
Even if the Public Address people were all " bores and wankers" it would still be a good read when Craig can come up with one liners lke giving the Minister a "hand job"
I doesn't even look good when I quote him but when he does it it is class!! -
Good points John
If you feel like a face to face meeting of the only "Hard News" commentators in Cromwell I will be working/helping at the Rockburn Winery after Easter for vintage
Any other callers are welcome, should be a glass of wine in it for you -
Spent a very pleasant afternoon in Riverton last early December
My first visit to the very far south
The kids (exchange students) went swimming and we lay in the sun ,truely the Riviera of the South
But the trees were only a meter high and stretched 20 meters away from the wind
And although the three days we were down there were blue dome days there was flooding in Invercargil the day after we left
I was impressed with the place some what agaisnt my natural feeling for southlanders
Have a great time -
While it is great that research money is being made available you do have to admit that the vehicle choosen for its delivery is a little ....strange
And " trust us we will deal with the details" is really is not good enough...remember the last time we heard thatAnd it is really great to hear from the Minister who I might add was regarded with some suspicion by the rural sector when he was appointed
Strangely, Labour has had two good agriculture ministers, so well done Jim 1 & Jim 11
Also nice to see some rural support from amongst the "Hard News" readers,it is not easy down on the farm -
Terrible news about Finn. not a happy end to that story which untill his body was found I think we all hoped for
No easy fixs to this sort of thing when there has to be balance between personal freedom and caring for those who are in no position to express their personal freedom
TomS says
"It seems to me that our health sector struggles but just about keeps up - and often on a lot less $$ than you would expect given the excellence of the care "But we the tax payers seem to have poured huge amounts of money into the system to very little advantage
Seems a change of direction is required as well as more money or maybe instead of more money -
It seems to me that there would be a good case to just run the Florida and Michigan primaries again
Then there would be an uproar -
Tom
I don't often agree with you (in fact never)
But your post above should be carved in stone ( after being brought down from the mountain top) and installed in the news rooms of all the media
Well done -
The leavers of government is not won by a party (never, never, never)
it is lost
Well that is my view of the last 38 years
So a clever oppostion just has to wait and not rock the boat
Which is exactly what Labour did when in that position
No policies and just niggle ,niggle and it worked
I am not sure it will work this time as SMP has made things harder for the right
But I agree there is a feeling it is time for the other lot to have a go
it may not lead to good government but it does lead to new ideas and new ways of dealing with problems
And very rarely does the sky fall or wages either, trust me on this -
So this what the rather manufactured scandal coming out from the left wing blogs is based on
A quiet “on the record” talk in a café
That, as transcribed ,is not very clear but seems to point that the leader of the opposition would like wage rises to be based on lifts in production rather than just government decree and the inflation that goes with that
Is that not what we all want!!
