Alien, have you seen the plan for New Brighton?
They're still living on the 1950s - 1970s saturday trading market ideas. It deserves development, but starting with housing would make it sustainable.
Of course CCC still do not accept sea level rise, at its current rate as recorded in Lyttleton for over a centuary so lets not even mention anthropogenic causes. -
Thanks Alien, that's a big defense.
It's a shame Labour obviously doesn't have the depth needed to takle the issue, which National are sizing up as an issue of National Significance in order to bypass local democracy.

This is very rich. Sideshow Bob is clawing at the bus service.
This is the same service CCC didn't support or believe would succeed. Worse they created the central bus exchange with a KILL ZONE on Litchfield St. A level crossing of pedestrians and buses, access for pedestrians in the kill zone (unlike any parking building) & the wrong way departure on a one way street, on the wrong side of the road (this really needs to be seen to be believed).http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/3361528/Councils-eye-regions-buses

A maori network, yes, but it's not nation wide unless you've got sky.

Sidebar - the Music tutors at UC are claiming they're not elitist - no-one is arguing.

Mikaere said "If classical music is as popular as it has been suggested in this thread, then the market would surely be able to deliver it ?"
We all know those euphemisms. The key to Concdert FMs success is its non-commercial model and being strongly bonded to Nat Radio. This is a model that works well with complimentary units.
To destroy one station, or letting market forces corrupt it, will not answer your valid question. Where is the National Maori Radio station?

Geoff: That would be local residence and national citizens, the same people. Or is there a secessionist movement I'm not aware of?
