My dad is representing New Zealand at an international bridge tournament. Two players have died while he was there. In fact he's only in the team because one of the other representatives had a heart attack.
Conclusion: bridge is f*cking dangerous.

I just want to say that at your big reveal where you tell us the logo they chose, I scrolled down and saw an ad for a Nautilus One Touch coffee machine. Which in some ways was a better gag.

We just put up a piece on the Al Nisbet thing. It's tricky, because yes free speech is a thing, but then also so is not being a dick. And I think the "not being a dick" line was crossed - the cartoonist was free to draw whatever cartoon he wanted, but the newspaper made the call to publish it.
Not publishing it wouldn't have been suppressing free speech, it would have just been decent.

Is it me, or has National gotten a touch hysterical with their responses lately? "North Korean economics" "Tragic and sniping" and my personal favourite "Devil Beast".
They were so disciplined for the first term and a half, but now they're starting to look like a third term Government...

I won't speak for Morgue who is a writer for us, but price man. Record stores are effing pricey.
And also why not think of a new model? Have the physical albums there, but then have some kind of vending machine so you can flick through album covers, then you can plug your MP3 player in and download the music. Then you can have your sense of community but also buy MP3s which are more transferable in bulk than CDs. In fact that's a really good idea. If I wasn't so lazy I'd do it myself.
