Joe,
No I am not misinformed or a scoundrel. This happened to her. As I understand it there are waiting lists for most heart related procedures, so why would a waiting list for anything else be a surprise? Go to the UK, Canada etc, it is all the same.Sure James, whatever you want to pull out of your boytalk butt. You're idly slandering people whose consummate professionalism saved my life, and that REALLY pisses me off.

In fact the govt has probably spent far more on her care since she became inoperable than they would have spent if they had operated immediately.
I repeat - lack of early intervention causes such problems, you should be raising the issue of your relative's GP's competence, rather than twisting the circumstances to make a dubious political point.
Suspected life-threatening cancers do NOT, repeat NOT, get placed on six month waiting lists in the Christchurch public health system. Suggesting that this is normal shows you to be either misinformed or a scoundrel.

My Godmother in Chch got a cancerous lump on her chest, had to wait over 6 months to see a specialist by which time the cancer was inoperable, so now she is on palliative care waiting to die.
You don't say. When my GP discovered a mysterious lump in my innards early last year I was in Christchurch Public Hospital that same evening. The op took place two and a half weeks later, and follow-up care has been faultless. No waiting list, and I don't have health insurance. This is par for the course for life-threatening conditions here. Either you're exaggerating, or your godmom's GP should be struck off, or she's living in a parallel universe.

The world truly is about to end.
Damn.
Cyanobacteria - blue green algae - had an unparalleled two billion year run as the crown of creation, eventually undone by their waste product, the toxic and unstable (for them) free oxygen. It's an ill wind that blows no species any good. All we asked for was another few millenia atop the evolutionary tree before passing the baton to our CO2-loving overlords, whatever they might be.

From a historical perspective I find the synthesis of such beliefs and the relation to colonialism and inter-cultural contact fascinating, and worth discussing, but it doesn't change what was done.
There's been plenty of deliberate muddying of the waters in that area, and perhaps coincidentally, in that particular neck of the woods. A group of deluded unfortunates who'd mistake a concrete garden ornament for a "taonga" is reminiscent of the toxic rubbish peddled by the late unlamented Andy Narain.

Destiny Church followers have been fond of quoting scripture when justifying the worldly rewards claimed by "Bishop" Brian - they don't muzzle the ox that treads the grain. We''ll no doubt be hearing some weaselly-worded variations on this theme from vested charity-associated interests over the next week or three.

Anything?? In that case...

During a mid-80s telethon a couple of reps from Chelsea sugar took to the studio stage to announce their corporate contribution, along with a challenge to "all other sugar companies" to match their largesse. In the present climate hopefully such corporate BS won't be allowed to pass unchallenged. While there just might be rival sugar suppliers out there today for all I know, back in that era CSR were a shameless monopoly.

Um, I was expelled from an alternative secondary school, oops. Do I still get to be taken seriously/
For some reason I still have this idea that you were keel-hauled as part of a rehab program, even though you definitely said that you weren't.

Ooops - Wrongwrongwrong - it takes around six months. Still way too much.
