  • Up Front: Time for an Intervention,

North Sydney Council, probably Australia's wealthiest local body, got rid of municipal rubbish bins around twenty years ago. They seem to have more arborists than trees these days.

Water, water, water is the major mayoral issue.

Aaaaaagh! As someone once said of Margaret Thatcher, if it's wet she thinks she can walk on it.

  • Up Front: Time for an Intervention,

It was Megan Woods. She is still the chair of 2021.

Good on her. And good on her for giving Parker something of a run back in 2007. She gave the impression of being smart enough to know that she was on a hiding to nothing, but someone had to do it.

Parker quickly revealed his true colours by doing a hatchet job on Tim Barnett as soon as he'd been elected. No doubt this was done at the behest of those who pull Parker's strings, and indicates something of the threat these vested interests felt Barnett to be at the time.

If Burke stands it'll be party time at the Parker-bunker.

Euuuuughhhhh. OTOH, competency + dickishness >>>>>> incompetency + dickishness, and we all know on which side of that equation Parker falls.
Then again, wouldn't it be nice to be able to choose between *several* competent, decent candidates? One can only dream.

Uh-huh. Does anyone recall the name of Parker's opponent last time around? I can't, even though I voted for her. Through gritted teeth, but.

As for drugs and the US Antarctic base, the only time I encountered the notorious Thunderbird wine was at a wedding in Chch, where a local bint was getting hitched to a Californian from the base.

(And, indeed, our business overlords got rid of most of the important old buildings 25 years ago.)

And overladies. The real rape of Auckland's meagre remaining architectural heritage took place under the active connivance of Cath Bloody Tizard.

  • Hard News: A revolting piece of shit,

"When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not, mmmmmmmm, boy."

You'd have to be American, and probably a stuff white people like kind of American, to really get that one. I mean, NZ pie heaven - maggot hut heaven?

Said Simple Simon to the pieman "What have you got there?"

    "Pies, cunt."

Thanks for Uncle Caveman, though. Very nice.

Ha, how did we forget this?

There seemed to be rather a lot of complimentary tickets going begging when little Mr. Numan played Auckland all those decades ago. The only impression I can recall, from an underwhelmed concertgoer: "How many different meals can you get out of a packet of Weetbix?"

Nice how this thread's strayed from Talcy Malcy.
What the hell, here's something with no aspirations to funk or deeper significance:
