  • Polity: The overconfidence man, in reply to Rob Stowell,

This is something the Press council could look at, I reckon. Should be "banner of the day"

The herald should have been ordered to acknowledge the ruling in print etc. If the Northern Advocate had to retract info re, Ruakaka Kauri within a couple of days of that story going to print, who is pulling the strings?

  • Polity: The overconfidence man, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

Yes, here's hoping the average National voter doesn't have the stomach for the kill, when they wake up and realise the future National will be denying the generations to follow

Although many National voters got out on Bi Election day up here in the North, it took Winston shouting louder around the area reminding all voting that we could make a powerful point. Bridges bribe was cream for Winston. Either Winston forced National to give 10 new bridges in 10 days or if not it proved they were dirty liars as has been seen now. And he made National pledge them even if they lost. So ,now Northlanders see more lies from National. Up here it felt like old NZ in action not a slick PR machine success.
Does anyone email their local opposition MPs asking questions ,giving suggestions, seeking information? The public collectively has their ear to the ground. If we question the misinformation, give heads up ,it can make it to the House. We collectively can push for better accountability. Everyone can help. No matter what preference of Party. If we treat the opposition as one instead of individual groups, the opposition will be a more powerful force.
NZ First isn't my usual choice but man, on the day up here, NZ first, (Winston) was necessary.

  • Hard News: Potency and purity,

But it's not hard to see why emergency doctors like Quigley would see it as a better option than most other things that could turn up in a pill:

Quigley was saying on Back Benches recently that, for every 100 alcohol related incidences in ER on a weekend night that he deals with, there may be just 1 case of a drug related incident.
Having tuned in (late start recording) late to Damian and Wallace's show, it appeared that there was a group on MDMA under Quigley's watch. I was astounded (and pleased to see) that this was allowed to happen. I couldn't determine if it was true but I suspect if anyone could do it ,Damian could. Does anyone know if it was true?

The worst thing is the way that corporate dreck spreads, like a fungal growth

Along with endless meetings that eliminates any time to do the actual job at hand, then to be told at the next meeting of the "Team building " activities on Friday in which you will lose half a day travelling somewhere only to be locked in a room with a time limit to find ones way out of said room when really, you could just stay at work in the room that you can do the bloody job in!

  • Speaker: Abortion: morality and health, in reply to kiwi_guy,

I should hope it is made harder to have a baby on the DPB

Do you know anything about the DPB or are you just spouting your problem with solo mothers.
The DPB is a benefit that the father of the child, when identified, pays a considerable amount towards. The parents not being together may just be the best outcome for that child. That the DPB is now fraught with restrictive rules to access it shows that this Government does not care that a kid is fed, clothed or allowed time with the parent. Abortion for many woman is the best outcome for the bloody planet and it should be people like you that applauds a woman who makes such a decision. As Moz suggests morality is out the window with the Government.
And, who the hell gives you the right to say rape should be an abortion right? No, rape just shouldn't fucking happen. Lets address that societal issue first before some kiwi guy gets to decide what a woman's allowed.

I urge you to read Glenn Greenwald's take on the claims.

    Thank God for real journalism.

The comments after Mr Greenwald's article reads like the comments in the Herald as soon as there is anything questioning the Government. They start out in support then the team is sent in to denigrate Labour or Greens. Interesting list of associates in media tied to the Obama Administration.
