Hard News: About Campbell Live, in reply to
Well I'll blame the parents. I didn't say that she was smart/intelligent, just that her friends, many I know, aren't bad. And yes, there are many writers at the Herald that are not smart. Her resignation may have been the smartest thing she has done.

Knowing kids she grew up with ,there were many times I would despair at what seemed like shallow, callous behaviour. More often it was the sheltered lifestyle that made the kids not see the bigger picture that real life serves. It would take the death of a friend or the split of a marriage to open their eyes a bit. Once that happened one would see them grow up just a little bit. These kids were not bad kids, just really young and sheltered and from affluent families. Really young and with that came a tad shallow.

"isn’t allowed a credit card" == "isn't allowed a credit card with someone else paying the bills"?
Or may have abused the priviledge of a credit card that parents pay for. Look, Pebbles comes from parents in the Fashion Industry. Considered to be up there worth acknowledging. I imagine,( like Sally Ridge and daughter Jamie are considered newsworthy), Pebbles joined her Mum on the HOS as the latest "it" people to notice. In my opinion, they are just opinions of Ponsonby and as Deep Red says, famous ish. I don't think it's any more fair to denigrate her name that she was born with and she is a very young writer. I think it's good she apologised quickly and I hope she learnt from it but really isn't her witterings just synonomous with reality trash TV? I don't expect intelligent writing but I do expect faux pas every day at te herald. I fear that giving the likes of them page space only enhances the perception of their importance which they clearly aren't. So I'll stop now. :)

Wind farm, they are noisy. What I saw and liked in the UK was wind farms in the ocean. Wind win I say. ;)

Cops really were a lot nicer back then.
Back in the day, my dad would be stopped at the Alex in Parnell and interrogated. The cops saw him as unwanted in Parnell. Thing is , Les Harvey, who owned a lot of Parnell was one of my Dad's best mates and my dad had a business on Parnell Rise. this happened a lot. The confusing thing for the cops was his strong Texan drawl and he looked like a Maori. They hadn't heard of Mexicans back then. :)

I'm old enough to remember a time when the Police could be trusted.
Not brown then I take it.

Hi steven, my friend wasn't at our usual Sunday "church" so info will have to wait until next weekend but I do see that the ERO (not bad reading) has some informative surveys and reports which help a little to identify where kids can and do seek help. I also see not all schools have Guidance Counsellors with recommendations to rectify that. It appears that the Guidance Counsellors will seek external help for students should solutions be beyond their capabilities.

Peters campaign up North was one man and 2 helpers on a bus . Standing on street corners with a microphone . Visiting pubs and halls and community centres and he talked with everyone who wanted to talk . He listened to what was being said. He is good at it but that is all people needed. Someone who cared about our lot up here instead of the platitudes being repeated along with the limo driven first time ever Politicians around the wealthier areas of KeriKeri, and the posing for photos. And the bribes that never were from Simon Bridges.
He didn't go around lying about his ability in Parliament. He didn't make up policy on the hoof nor did he have the finances National were throwing behind their replacement of that Sabin. National have a full time PR machine that is there to further their agenda. Money is their power and greed is their driver. It is easy to spot. Just go and have a look .They have the slick PR machine.
Please do tell, what is flip flop about holding Party decisions close to your chest when you are well aware of the way media responds. What's flip flop about being a politician who uses the system that is there . We may have laws that suck but they are law so yada yada yada. NZ first for all their foibles have touched a nerve. For some it's because many citizens feel shafted and they want to put NZer's first, for others it's zenophobic. I happen to feel it's both. But looking at their policies, I see some similarity with Greens because they both want best for this Country.
So ,nah ,not so slick, just calling it how it is. IMO -

When I went into the Council to vote in the Bi election, I spoke with a man who's wife was voting . He was trying to get off the Maori role as he felt it was worth a vote against National. He felt very strongly about it. Interesting times .

Like I already said. If the schools can’t cope with just talking about suicide, how in the hell do they cope with it actually happening
Steven, I'll get back to you with this after the weekend because a friend of mine is in one of Northland's High Schools and he is the Counsellor for the kids. I'll ask him how it works. I also know someone else who had a similar role in another Northland school so I'll see what the protocol is.
Here is a recent survey's findings from the ERO, which may give some insight.
