Here is online link to item mentioning David Slack in last week's edition of The Aucklander.
The town of Black Hawk in Colorado USA currently has a ban on bikes in certain streets. (Item on website under press release). It would seem it is unsafe for bikes to be in the gambling area.

I heard him on radio dismissed with the self-damning line from a commentator, "I'd never heard of him until the other day".
Well, isn't that true of everything? You have to hear about something a first time. But the subtext here is, "He can't be any good because I haven't heard of him".
I heard Hilary Barry make the comment. She hadn't heard of him before and then he is the lead story on TV3 News. Apparently newsreaders should know everything.

Internationally, you can't go past the USGS worldwide real-time earthquake monitoring site.
There is also the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology site http://www.iris.edu/seismon/ - earthquakes from Magnitude 4. The Emergency and Disaster Information Service website displays some from about Magnitude 2.5.
Not a complete list - for example this morning's earthquake near Kaikoura (3.9) doesn't currently show in either site.

And I'm reliably informed that there's a piece on the Stead story in next week's Listener.
That would be the issue dated May 1-7. Cover quote:

According to the flyer "Making Auckland Greater" the reason for these proposed governance changes to Auckland was to make Auckland greater.
Why make these changes?
Auckland is the country's economic powerhouse. We all need Auckland to perform the best it can.Having one regional body to make all long-term plans and to manage transport, water and asset management needs means Auckland will finally have a co-ordinated process to make decisions and to invest accordingly.
This will mean clearer and consistent decision-making on regional issues, clear leadership for Auckland and a reduction in the duplication of services.

Looking for a means of sending a message to Hilary Stace.
Temple Grandin has been on TED Talks.
There is a documentary in progress on Susan King. (http://www.susanking.co.nz/). Most of her art from school was given away; usually before family saw it - they now have the conundrum of having the art seen by others without losing the originals. Susan has only recently picked up doing art again after decades without it, helped by the art exhibition, the documentary process and family encouragement. Susan has autism. -
Someone using his name and radio voice was seen on TV3 News this evening.
